I’m working on a “Game of Thrones” photo gallery and I thought it’d be fun to quote YOU — our fearless readers. Please reply with your favorite “GoT” moment/scene of all time and a BRIEF explanation for why. Just one sentence is fine. Thanks!

Season 4; Episode 6 – The Law of Gods & Men

    Scene: Tyrion’s Trial

“Tyrion then turns his full fury towards Cersei and says that watching her “vicious bastard” of a son die gave him more relief than “a thousand lying whores.” He then turns around to the court and roars that he wishes to have become the monster they thought he was and would have gladly give his life to watch everyone die from drinking poison. This enrages everyone in the court and Tywin orders Ser Meryn to escort Tyrion back to the dungeons. Before he can be escorted out, Tyrion bellows that he will not lose his life for a crime he did not commit and, knowing that he will get no justice from the court, demands a trial by combat.”

All that rage, emotion, power from Tyrion – an exceptional performance from Peter Dinklage. Left on a knife edge at the end of the episode, yet not frustratingly so (unlike many ‘cliffhanger’ endings on telly) because of the power of the build up.

This is probably a big fan fav moment but my fav is Joffrey’s death. Seeing that little egomaniacal monster die was worth the wait. This was season 4 episode 2 I think.

The Dance of Dragons S5 E9
The entire final 20 minutes with Daznaks Pit was unlike anything else on the show, and final 3 minutes where Drogon saves Dany and They fly of together was mesmerizing, she proved once again why she is the Mother of Dragons, I remember tearing up at that part.

Alan Taylor should have won the Emmy for “Baelor”. The final scene was perfect (acting, staging, camerawork, editing, sound). But the Emmys are suckers for pilots and Tim Van Patten, so he was not even nominated. Taylor did such a great job on that episode and the first season finale that they brought him on full-time for the second season as a co-executive producer; he would be the show’s first and last in-house director. Then he left the show to direct the Thor sequel, ugh.

My two favorite moments of “Game of Thrones” to date have been the battle in “Blackwater” and the battle in “Hardhome.” Those are the most urgency I’ve ever felt from the show.

Indeed. Those episodes are as close to graceful as the show has ever gotten. And although the finale is hardly perfect, the one-two punch of “Baelor” and “Fire and Blood” represented the show seizing its potential and propagated what then seemed to be the next great series.

I loved The Lion and the Rose’s 25 minute wedding sequence ending with Joffrey’s death- well acted and well shot.

A good ‘wtf’ was Melisandre’s birth of the shadow demon in ‘Garden of Bones’.

Shireen’s death – It’s a stranger choice and isn’t my favorite of all, but it’s a very beautiful and powerful scene. I love so much the soundtrack (“Forgive me”) and is very well directed and acted.

It would be easy to cite Drogon’s antics at any given time. But, I’m going to say, scenes with Sansa and THIS year. It’s not that I didn’t care for her character but now, when she says things like:
“I’d like your help, but I’ll do it with or without you”; and “A monster has taken over our brother and our home. We have to rescue them and take them back”
turned her into my favorite character. From “meh” to favorite surprises me.

Thanks writing team and George. Let’s get the House of Stark back, and viable again.

The exchange between Littlefinger and Varys, with the Iron Throne sitting in the background. Wonderfully written, acted, directed. The only two characters that truly play the game.

The Viper and The Mountain, Oberin’s death, took my breath away.
