We all know the HFPA loves new TV shows. Now that they are starting to premiere what new comedy do you think has the best chance of competing at the next Golden Globes?

If you select other, please clarify what show you choose and why you chose it.

I think Silicon Valley could easily win Best Comedy, it’s new, it’s hot, and it has a lot of buzz which the HFPA loves.

No brainer here. Silicon Valley is the only one that already has the prestige and was nominated for several Emmys including Best Comedy Series.

If the HFPA does not finally nominate VEEP for best comedy series I will flip, it is mountains better than that insepid “Brooklyn 99”

I saw the title of this poll and was worried that Silicon Valley would be forgotten.  They would win if Orange is the New Black were still in drama.

The Last Man on Earth will not air in time.

Mulaney is getting some of the worst reviews of any new show and will not be nominated for anything.

I think Red Band Society must get some love. I don’t know if it will win but I think it has a fair chance.

Red Band is a comedy? I thought for certain it would be submitted as a drama. As I am working on that right now for a new predictions center, somebody needs to defend why think it is a comedy.

Anything remotely comedic is a comedy these days.
Fox has consistently billed it in press releases and whatnot as a
“dramedy”.  It came off as a drama to me when I watched it, but so did Orange is the New Black, Transparent, Nurse Jackie and Shameless.

I think it has alot of comedic moments in the show to swing into comedy with some of the other shows like Orange and Jackie

Every instance I have found calls it a drama, including from Fox.

This and the Golden Globes prediction thread is the fist time I heard it referred to as a comedy, though all the critics have been comparing it to Glee so I suppose it makes some sense.

I did some digging and it turns out that Red Band Society
was initially referred to as a drama, but they switched to calling it a
dramedy at a certain point.  This may mean one of two things.  It could
mean that they thought that the show would sell better when marketed as
a dramedy, but is a drama at heart and that is how they will submit
it.  Or it might mean that they are repositioning it because they now
think that they originally classified it incorrectly and now want to
submit it as a comedy and whatnot.  So I cannot tell where they will
    submit it.

Back in 2011 when ABC got the rights to it, Deadline reported it as “a coming-of-age drama with humor set at a big-city hospital”.

In January of this year when Deadline reported that Fox was shooting the pilot, they called it “Drama Red Band Society“.

In May, ABC’s press release announcing that Fox was picking up their show called it “a provocative, unconventional and, at times, comic high school drama”.

In June, Fox put out a press release announcing a tie-in charity contest offering “FANS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THE NEW DRAMEDY”.

In July, Fox put out a press release with premiere dates for their new shows: “NEW COMING-OF-AGE DRAMEDY ‘RED BAND SOCIETY’ CHECKS IN WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17”.

Now, on the show’s official website: “RED BAND SOCIETY is a provocative, unconventional and unique
coming-of-age dramedy about a group of rule-bending friends and the
    adults who mentor them”.

Definitely Silicon Valley. In fact, that’s what I’m predicting to win now.

With OITNB and Shameless in comedy, we can never assume these things…
