We get tons of doctors, lawyers, and cops, a strangely large proportion of ad execs, and of course Hollywood writers write a disproportionate number of shows about Hollywood writers. There are countless other professions that don’t get their own shows. What would you like to see?

When I was around 12 or 13 I had this idea for an office comedy set at NASA called “Mission Control.” It was only ever an idea because back then I knew jack squat about the inner workings of NASA, and now … that’s about the same, LOL, but looking back that’s still something I’d love to see. Not a “Big Bang Theory”-type show full of nerd jokes, but more of a “Parks and Rec”-style office comedy.

What other professions would make for interesting shows, and what kinds of shows would they be?

Priests and the church.  Cool concept would be what happens before and after the confessionals.  Would love to see the toll it takes on priests and their families as keepers or one’s intermost secrets, scandels, desires and crimes.  Also how politics, money and power can corrupt people that are STILL doing good work.

Or drag queens.  Could work as a comedy, drama or somewhere in between.

Professors – dealing with the pressures of administration, scandals involving affairs with students, scandals involving affairs with other professors, possible corruption, student protestors etc. I think there’s a lot of possibility there. I wrote about my idea for a show like this here!

A couple weeks back I had an idea that it could be really funny to watch a sitcom about people who worked at a museum. Like tour-guides, adminstrators, college interns, historians, gettin into hijinks messing up exhibits and interns hooking up in displays. Like you said, parks and rec-esque.

A mockumentary-style office comedy about a group of ragtag quirky accountants, which would be titled “Certified!” lol. It would either sweep the Emmys or be cancelled after one episode on NBC. I’d watch it regardless.

College professors would be an interesting concept.

I would welcome another FNL-like sports show with open arms, too.
