We can always count on the Hollywood Foreign Press folks to come up with at least one jaw-dropper among the TV nominations.

What do you think it will be this year?

The cool thing about the Globes is they sometimes are the first to get to honor the hot new series of the year. Last year it was The Affair and Transparent, and we saw which one that Emmy voters didn’t like at all.

This year, I think there will be plenty of new blood represented with nominations, including…

    Mr. Robot
    – Drama Series
    – Lead Actor, Rami Malek
    – Supp. Actor, Christian Slater

    UnReal
    – Drama Series
    – Lead Actress, Shiri Appleby
    – Supp. Actress, Constance Zimmer

    Ballers
    – Comedy Series
    – Lead Actor, The Rock

    The Grinder
    – Comedy Series
    – Lead Actor, Rob Lowe
    – Lead Actor, Fred Savage

    Scream Queens
    – Comedy Series
    – Lead Actress, Emma Roberts
    – Supp. Actress, Jamie Lee Curtis

    Show Me a Hero
    – Miniseries/TV-Movie
    – Lead Actor, Oscar Isaac
    – Supp. Actress, Winona Ryder

    Quantico
    – Lead Actress Drama, Priyanka Chopra

    Supergirl
    – Drama Series
    – Lead Actress, Melissa Beoist
    – Supp. Actress, Calista Flockhart

The surprise being that Globe voters don’t follow suit w/ Emmy voters (Game of Thrones, Veep) and really not even following suit with their winners last year (The Affair, Transparent).

    It would not be shocked if these don’t get nominated;

    • Game of Thrones
    • Viola Davis
    • Kevin Spacey
    • Peter Dinklage
    • Jon Hamm

GoT is in its fifth season. HFPA would probably want to award as many freshmen shows as possible.
There’s not much support for Davis’ show, I’d assume HFP would want to nominate Priyanka Chopra instead for ABC.
Spacey won last year, I don’t see why they should keep him around longer.
Peter Dinklage is old news. HFPA would rather nominate Fargo or Veep or Empire actors.
Jon Hamm hasn’t been nominated at the Globes for the last 2 years. I don’t get why people think he will get back in (an Emmy win means nothing to the HFPA)
    Outlander is getting absolutely nothing.

    Potential Surprises:

    Grace Gealey – Empire
    Naveen Andrews – Sense8
    Alfonso Herrera – Sense8
    Pedro Pascal – Narcos
    Regina King – The Leftovers
    Niecy Nash – Scream Queens

Elizabeth Gillies and Denis Leary could be surprises no one thought of.

I don’t think The Grinder or Grandfathered would be surprises.

I can easily see Mr. Robot being nominated.

I would love to see Dwayne Johnson (trying to get away from calling him The Rock) get nominated. UnReal nominations would be unR…amazing and deserved.

Would not be surprised to see House of Cards get dropped (including the actors). We all know the Globes love new shows and the whole Netflix thing doesn’t seem all that new and trendy anymore. It will be tempting for them to nominate it though because of the major star power it brings.

I wouldn’t be surprised if all the winners last year would be dropped. I’ve noticed that they do that sometimes.
    The Affair
    Transparent
    Kevin Spacey
    Tambour
    Gina Rodroguez
    Ruth Wilson
    Froggat

The ones that don’t win, usually keep getting nominated.

Season 3 of HoC was meh anyway. If the HFPA want to recognize Netflix they can nominate Sense8 or Narcos.

My bet is that despite the continued persistence of trying to make Outlander *happen* on this board, it will get nothing. And it will be considered “shocking.”

But on a more realistic note, I think it would be surprising if they dropped both House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black. They’re old hat by HFPA standards but still have a lot of support in the industry and among some critics.

Kristen Schaal is not in the prediction center. So if she gets nominated it will be a “shock”.

LOL right. Can’t wait to read the articles about what went wrong and why it got shut out even with it being the top pick among “users” (who are nothing but fans hijacking the site).

    Supporting Actor, Christian Slater

    UnREAL
    Drama Series
    Lead Actress, Shiri Appleby

    Ballers
    Lead Actor (Comedy), The Rock

    Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

    Bloodline
    Lead Actor, Kyle Chandler
    Supporting Actor, Ben Mendelsohn

    Scream Queens

    Some potential snubs/exclusions:

and finally, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say The Affair will be completely snubbed this year, save for Ruth Wilson.

Crazy Ex Girlfriend is far and out more superior than dopey Jane the Virgin so if that show can get Globe noms I don’t see why not for Crazy Ex Girlfriend

Watch out for “Narcos” (Netflix) and Wagner Moura.
