What will win the most Emmy awards this Saturday? I think this is a tight two show race between AHS and GOT, with GOT winning the most.

As for Game of Thrones;
Production Design: Up until last year, all single camera shows had been competing in the same category and that category was a real deal. But last year they have been splitted into two, the first one is ”Contemporary or Fantasy Program” and the other is ”Period Program”. You can understand by looking at the titles which one is easy to get in and which one is not and GoT competes in the first one with Constantine, Gotham and House of Cards, while other one is filled with shows like Mad Men, Downton and Boardwalk. Considering GoT beat these particular shows in the past; with this new category placement, I smell an easy victory.
Special Visual Effects: If they won this category in 3 previous years, there is no way they can lose it now with Dance of Dragons episode. Even before the dragon came into play, the majority of background of fighting pit had been created with special effects.
Cinematography: 4 nominee for the same show. If they lose, we will understand it is because of vote-splitting. But Hardhome is still an invetiable choice in here. Lighting on that episode was remarkable and really helped us to feel that horror.
Sound Editing& Sound Mixing: Again, Hardhome. But I didn’t watch the other shows that was nominated in here, so everything could happen. It could go to Black Sails, Homeland or TWD.
Guest Actress: I explained my reasons on the other thread.
Stunt Coordination: Come on! That fight sequence! They’ll be stupid not to award that. And there is a reason why this episode wasn’t submitted by Visual Effects team, because hundreds of extras were used and most of it was real. But this category has always been weird, and they never won before, so I can’t include this one in the lock category.
Could go Either way:
Picture Editing: 2 episodes of Game of Thrones competes with 2 episodes of Better Call Saul and finale of Mad Men. If votes would split, Mad Men can win.(They love to award series finales in here.) But if not, BCS still has a great shot. Editing branch used to LOVE Breaking Bad.
Costumes: No idea. They won twice before.
Makeup & Prosthetic Makeup: See above. They won twice for Makeup before. And one for Prosthetic Makeup.
Casting: I don’t know, they never won before, is there a reason to believe why they should now? But it’s still the biggest ensemble on television, and they intrdouce dozens of new characters(ugh) every season.
Hairstyling: Again, never won before. They couldn’t even prevail last year with Joffrey’s enormously big wedding sequence. And Makeup&Hairstyling guild do not like the show for some reason.
In the end, I predict 7 victories for them at most. A little bit generous I know, but they won 6 for second season and this season was much more bigger in terms of production values and of course popularity. And with 2 other victories in the main ceremony they can tie with West Wing on most Emmys won in a Single Season as Canadian Fan predicted.
Of course AHS has a greater shot in all of this categories because they compete in the less competitive ones. They could be the new Sherlock of this year. And this new system might help them.
For logical reasons it makes more sense to predict AHS as the winner of the night, but I voted for GoT. AHS was never an Emmy darling and only won for its costumes and hairstlying to date. They get tons of nominations every year because there is no real competition in Limited Series categories.September 7, 2015 at 2:51 pm #360215
^Yeah I would not be suprised if AHS wins the most, it had by far and away the best special effects out of all the minis/movies.September 8, 2015 at 12:11 am #360216
Oh, gosh. The buzz is so hyped for that show. It appears that everyone agrees on the same thing on GoldDerby for the first time. That particular fact enough shows us we will all be wrong lmao. And I believe after the Saturday night all of them will hurry to predict Mad Men, because GoT will not have lived up to its hype.
I mean, come on, I also think they will win Best Drama but they can’t sweep ALL categories except Casting and such. That is mathematically illogical. Even most popular miniseries couldn’t do that. Yes, their costumes, hairs and makeups are fine, but there are other examples of fine work on that subject on tv as well. There were other period and fantasy shows on the air.
And don’t get me wrong, but if it goes by straight popularity vote it might even hurt them in some categories. Majority of those branches I’ve just mentioned are consists of mostly (older) women and shows like Downton Abbey or even Mad Men is more their cup of tea. Again, not being sexist, it’s just a preferance thing and a fact.
I say they have Cinematography, Art Direction(those statues in House of Black and White were something!) and Sound categories in the bag, do not know about the rest. And do they really matter and affect much in the big category? I mean how many members are there in Hairstyling branch? Not much, I assume.
I also think Prosthetic Makeup will go to AHS this year. Those freaks were truly creepy.
