Hayley Atwell talked about how she’d love to play the Doctor in “Doctor Who,” who has never been portrayed as anything other than a man. I’ve loved Atwell in “Any Human Heart” and “The Pillars of the Earth,” though I ironically haven’t had a chance to see her best known role as Agent Carter in the Marvel Universe. She’d be an awesome Doctor.
What other women might be great in the role? Not that she’d ever do it, but Helen Mirren would be so perfectly cast as the Doctor. She has that right blend of authority and humor.
Helen Mirren deffo the number one choice! Tilda Swinton would be magnificent too, if again something that would never happen.
Olivia Coleman or Anna Maxwell Martin I’d say are more possible choices.
Ooh, Tilda Swinton would be amazing. Heck, she could play the Doctor even if they kept the character male. 🙂
If they wanted to go this route, I would love to see Thandie Newton as the doctor. She could do a similar character to her Rock n Rolla role and be awesome. I wouldn’t mind if they went back to the slightly more serious tone of Classic Doctor Who (as long as they didn’t go back to that pace) and I think Newton could really bring that. That being said, I want Capaldi to be there at least two more seasons.
This is the part of the thread where I drop Natalie Dormer’s name, whether justified or not.
