…. and do you REALLY believe it will happen? Or (admit it) is it just wishful thinking?

Rossum and Macy in the sixth slot for comedy lead actress and actor, respectively.

Part of me thinks it’s possible because the voters (inexplicably) let John Wells switch his show into the comedy categories, and the show has more acclaim than ever before. However, there is still a part of me that feels like I am blinded by my love for the show, and that neither of them stand a chance.

To that end, unless there’s a tie, I’ve kind of given up on Maslany…

Kate McKinnon for Comedy Supporting Actress.  I’m not sure SNL will get a supporting nod this year, but she’s their best chance.

Liev Schriber for “Ray Donovan”. I know it’s probably not going to happen but he really is great on the show.

According to the predictions center, my biggest longshot predictions are Jeffrey Wright and Jim Carter for Drama Supporting Actor (each with 100/1 odds), Downton Abbey for Drama Series (33/1 odds), and Pedro Pascal for Drama Guest Actor (33/1 odds). Since all are in the top 10 for their respective categories (Wright #7, Carter #8, Downton Abbey #7, and Pascal #7), I don’t think any of them is wishful thinking.

Jeff Perry for Scandal. Bellamy Young’s a dark horse as it is.

Mine is more of a snubbing across the board prediction. I have “Mad Men” being a big loser nomination moring with Robrt Morse being its sole acting nomination.

Parks and Recreation in Comedy Series (it could happen)
Betty White in Comedy Supporting Actress (it could happen)
Lena Heady in Drama Supporting Actress (probably wishful thinking)
Charles Dance in Drama Supporting Actor (it could happen)

I think my big one right now is Lena Headey getting in that last spot in Supporting Actress, although I am really close to dropping her. My predictions are here: http://smashcutreviews.com/2014/05/2014-emmy-predictions-supporting-actress-in-a-drama-series/

The other two I have are Thomas Middleditch for Silicon Valley in Comedy Actor and Emmy Rossum for Shameless in Comedy Actress, although I’m not sure the could be seen as longshots.

Kate McKinnon breaks into the supporting actress category. Something tells me Merrit Wever will be the new Eric Stonestreet/Jon Cryer of this year, the win-it-and-leave it type, so that makes the room for a new SNL castmember to get nods here. She’s the best from the cast, and her impressions are spot on… I’m about 20% sure this will happen, though.

I also have Timothy Simons breaking in for Veep, and in this one I feel more confident.

Laverne Cox . I think she can get in if they really embrace Orange.

I didn’t think Continuum would get on the Emmy ballot, ever.  But they made it this time, despite being a Canadian production.  In an ideal world, it would be up for Drama, Victor Webster, Rachel Nichols (the country’s best lead drama series actress and Friday night’s season 3 finale cemented that), Roger Cross as well as writing and directing.  In real world, only an outside puncher’s chance.

I’m conflicted about this one. My gut is telling me that Laurie Metcalf can get in for lead comedy actress but my mind is doubting it. She is a 7 time nominee and 3 time winner. I’m not convinced that Mindy Kaling or Anna Faris can get nominated so I think I am going to take a risk and predict Laurie who might be undervalued.

I’m definitley not playing it safe this Emmy season for nominations!  The only actress I don’t currently have predicted, as a long shot, is Frances Conroy for Coven.  That category is totally filled up, so if I added her, it would be strictly wishful thinking!

Taryn Manning:  Comedy Guest Actress (Maybe wishful, but her role was great, although not entirely comedic)

Pablo Schreiber :  Comedy Guest Actor  (I think he has a shot)

Mariska Hargitay:  Drama Actress  (Her entire scenario w/Pablo Schreiber on Law & Order was perfection)

Lena Headey:  Drama Supporting Actress  (I’ve taken Clarke out in support for Headey)

Molly Parker:  Drama Supporting Actress  (Her role was rather one note, but so was Wright’s performance)

Nicolaj Coster-Waldau:  Drama Supporting Actor  (I thought he did GREAT as Jamie this past season)

Pablo Schreiber:  Drama Guest Actor  (Along w/Hargitay, he knocked the rape scene out of the water)

Alfred Molina:  Movie/Mini Supporting Actor (I thought his performance was equal to some other TNH nominees)
