My fave Emmy victory was “Will &
Grace” as Best Comedy series of 2000. That show changed America, showed
the average yahoo that LGBT folks aren’t monsters, and it was damned funny,
too. Amazing that it beat “Raymond,” “Frasier,”
“Friends” and “Sex and the City.” I’m sure Karen and Jack
drank well that night to celebrate.

Let me look at my name. Hmm. It has to be my favorite show of all time winning Best Drama Series in 2006. Some months later and I found goldderby.

Right now, it is Tony Hale winning Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series last year. I love it when the underdog performance wins, and especially when it is such a normal, sweet and funny guy like Hale wins.

    Other ones I love:

    • All of Seinfeld’s awards, especially Best Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Julia Louis-Dreyfus
    • The Colbert Report winning Best Variety Series
    • Modern Family’s FIRST win – all the rest are meh

I just think Tina Fey’s two wins in 2008 for Lead Comedy Actress and Comedy Writing were just perfection. Totally deserved. And I loved that she and Baldwin both won their lead acting Emmys that year. That’s an on screen couple that IMO has yet to be bettered.

My faves are Gillian Anderson winning for The X-Files (I was such a hardcore fan…. I still am actually), EVERY win for Angels in America (because it’s simply a masterpiece) and all the wins for Will&Grace and Fraiser too.

I can’t choose one because there are too many to choose from. But my favourites are All Breaking Bad and Sopranos win. Jon Cryer winning his first Emmy. Jim Parsons wins. Some Mad Men wins because some years there were more competition that deserved to win (Dexter,Breaking Bad, 2010). Monk wins.

Mad Men‘s first Drama Series win. Becoming the first basic cable show to break through has, I think, signaled a sea change in the original programming mindset of TV executives. Lots more niche shows out there on basic cable now–some terrible, to be sure, but some great as well that may have been encouraged by MM‘s win and the attention it generated.

I’m also partial to the wins for Gillian Anderson and Rue McClanahan (The Golden Girls)

Margo Martinadale, Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series 2011.

She gave a true tour de force performance that year and elevated the cast and shows to heights it has yet to reach since.  It was also great to see such a longtime character actor get so much universal praise and acclaim for her work, culminating in the Emmy win.
