Mine is Ricky’s. I was totally KNOCKED OUT by it, even watched it twice. Of course, I could be hugely biased here because my own dad is in a nursing home right now

For me, it’s between Cranston with Ozymandias and Charles with Hitting the Fan. Cranston has so much range, from the opening scene set in season 1 to the speech over the phone. Then Charles just drives the episode forward, and is at his very best, with the best writing. It is a true supporting performance of course, and he did well in picking it while his nominated costars didn’t. If the voters only watch these episode, they will see both at their bests, and if they’ve watched the rest of the seasons, they would probably vote for them regardless. Near-perfect submissions as I see it.

Agreed, there. Cranstons’ work in Ozymandias is probably the best work he’s done, even surpassing “Phoenix”, “Fly”, and “Face Off”. And while Charles was quite great in “The Decision Tree”, I thought he definitely had the most impact in “Hitting the Fan”. Glad that that episode got its due in some way.

For me it has to be Michelle Dockery. I have watched Downton since it began and had always thought she was a competant actress and that was it. But when I first watched the fourth season premiere I was so surprised that I was being completely blown away by her. The crying scene that she has with Carson is probably the best scene I have seen on TV for a while. She may not to everyone be the best technically of all the submissions but she is my clear personal favourite.

For Drama, it’s Bryan Cranston in Ozymandias.

For Comedy, it’s Ricky Gervais in Derek 2.06.

And even though there aren’t any ep submissions for Movie/Mini, it’s Martin Freeman in Fargo.

Bryan Cranston and Anna Gunn for “Ozymandias.” Television at its absolute finest.

If Kate Mulgrew was in Drama Supporting, I think Tit Punch would be a very competitive tape. I don’t think it’s the case in Comedy. Janney has that all wrapped up with that textbook Emmy tape.

I was going to say this!

My favorite single episode submission is Ozymandias for Bryan Cranston and Anna Gunn.

I’m going to echo what some have already said and add that I love Ricky Gervais’ submission and “Ozymandias” for Cranston and Gunn. I also loved “The Last Call” the episode of “The Good Wife” Julianna Marguiles submitted I could so see her winning for that

‘Ozymandias’. Like, can you do any wrong? Too bad Cranston won’t win though.
