The Goldderby TV Awards are a tradition I enjoy as one of the fine perks of this website. Regardless of how often I agree with them, they provide a fun way of gouging popularity on this website.

The “Dream Emmy Ballots” are cute, but in my personal opinion they lack the legitamacy (and history?) of the official TV Awards we do here. I’m not an Emmy voters, so for me these are like a substitute Emmys, where even if I don’t like the winner, at least I can say I voted and had my say.

Plus, its thanks to the Goldderby TV Awards that’s Finn Wittrock’s Dandy Mott from AHS: Freak Show can forever be called an “Award-winning performance” even if its sadly not an Emmy-winner.

Also, remember Alison Tolman for Fargo, Amy Poehler so many (maybe even TOO MANY?) times for Parks and Recreation, Michael C. Hall for Dexter, Matt Bomer for The Normal Heart, and Steve Carell for The Office. All were in my opinion like Wittrock in Freak Show, performances that should easily have been Emmy winners but in spite their snubs, we didn’t forget them here at Goldderby.

I believe these Awards are essential, especially seeing as so many of us probably watch more TV in general judging by our choices (see above) compared to some of the Emmy voters more….. WTF choices (Margo Martindale WINNING for 2 minutes of nothing, Ellen Burstyn 14-second Emmy nominated cameo) in recent years.

Oh, and could there please be more options for Animated Program? The Simpsons winning last year was a disgrace in my opinion, when there are so many smarter, more culturally relevant, and just flat out funnier shows, like Rick and Morty, Adventure Time (though not very recently IMO), South Park, American Dad, and my personal favorite TV show in general Steven Universe. I would love to see Gravity Falls win here at the Goldderby TV Awards in case the Emmys snub it, as a goodbye hug for such an wonderfully creative modern cult phenomenon.

And could there be a category added for Best Voice-Over performance at both these Awards and the Film Awards here at Goldderby? I’d pick Kristen Schaal for Gravity Falls but any of the Steven Universe cast (Estelle as Garnet and Shelby Rabara as Peridot being standouts recently) or Olivia Olsen as the always-awesome Marceline on Adventure Time would be worthy winners as well. 🙂

“probably?” So you’re not sure about that? “sigh” Hopefully you’re right and it gets fixed sooner rather than later. :\

Wonderful! Thank you for the info, also happy to see the TCA Awards is now open in the predictions center. 🙂

What did you think of my proposal for a new category for Voice-Over Performance in an Animated Series? There’s plenty of worthy contenders, some of which I named above (Rabara, Estelle, Olsen, and Schaal), that I believe deserve recognition.
