I think Lange is definitely out. I honestly think she’ll rank 4th or 5th, behind 1) Frances McDormand, 2) Queen Latifah, and 3) Maggie Gyllenhaal.
I also count out O’Hare and Wittrock. Michael Kenneth Williams gave the best performance of the nominees, while Bill Murray fits the mold of what this category tends to give the win. (Haven’t seen Richard Cabral in American Crime yet.)
In Supporting Actress, I think this just may be the year for Sarah Paulson. I’m going to confidently assume Bassett and last year’s winner, Bates, are out. I would be absolutely fine with Mo’Nique winning for Bessie, and outside of Bates, she is the Oscar winning actress in this category receiving her first Emmy nom. Actually, the one I was going to predict to win wasn’t even nominated: Susan Sarandon for The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe. Perennial Emmy nominee yet never won, Oscar winner in the category that loves Oscar winners, acting legend/veteran. With her out, I think it’s a toss-up between the Oscar winning actress in the plum supporting role of an HBO flick (Mo’Nique) versus the actress on her fourth consecutive nomination, who dominates the first two episodes playing conjoined twins. Going with Paulson, but will be fine with Mo’Nique taking it. (Haven’t seen Regina King in American Crime yet).
If the at-least-one-acting-per-year trend continues, its only hope is Sarah Paulson.July 16, 2015 at 10:20 pm #354040
Finn and Sarah. If not I will go crazy ESPECIALLY if sleepwalker Bill Murray wins for his boring performanceJuly 16, 2015 at 10:23 pm #354041
Both Sarah Paulson and Finn Wittrock should win. Period. Will they win? You never know. The Television Academy do name-checking in these categories a lot.
My Personal Lineup:
1. Sarah Paulson, American Horror Story: Freak Show
2. Kathy Bates, American Horror Story: Freak Show
3. Regina King, American Crime (very good in the first few episodes, then you see the same performance all over again and it’s quite boring after a while – I don’t hate this nomination, but Gleendilys Inoa, Frances Conroy, Naomi Grossman and Lubina Azabal are all very good and deserving as well)
4. Angela Bassett, American Horror Story: Freak Show (so sad about the missing Frances Conroy who’s as worthy as Bassett is)
I haven’t seen Olive Kitteridge and Bessie yet.
My Prediction: Monique. I do want to believe that it’s Paulson’s time, but knowing the Academy, they will once again screw it up.
As of Supporting Actors, Finn Wittrock gave one of the strongest TV performances EVER. So he has to win. But Bill Murray will.July 16, 2015 at 11:48 pm #354042
Im certain that Paulson will finally win this year. She is overdue for this show and kathy bates is put of her way with winning last year. Lange is posible but ai dont think she wins agaisnt her competition. Fittro k should definitely win, but Im not sure he will.July 17, 2015 at 12:48 am #354043
Finn Wittrock will win – I am sure of it. I think Bill Murray could also win, but I love him, so I wouldn’t be disappointed if he won, but if voters actually watch AHS, then there is no way they won’t vote for Wittrock – and if they nominated him, it means they watched the show, which means they certainly will vote for him for the winJuly 17, 2015 at 1:11 am #354044

Many people think that Murray or Wittrock could win, but seems to me, main threat comes from Damian Lewis, who is very convincing in “Wolf Hall” and plays a historical figure.
Actually Kathy Bates can surprise us another time. Remember, that her big scenes in AHS: Coven was in the beginning of show and she won. Same thing with AHS: Freak Show.July 17, 2015 at 2:38 am #354045
Yeah, but comparing Bates to Paulson even in the first few episodes is still an easy win for Paulson.July 17, 2015 at 4:16 am #354046
I actually have a feeling that Paulson will lose again. It could go any which way. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Zoe Kazan (who was very good) ends up winning.July 17, 2015 at 7:04 am #354047
If Finn wittrock wins and Paulson doesn’t. My bones will disintegrate and I will become that pink goo from Ghostbusters.July 17, 2015 at 8:01 am #354048
Paulson and Wittrock deserve this win. But this has got to be Paulson’s time.July 17, 2015 at 8:12 am #354049
Paulson seems like the best bet, but I have a gut feeling that Mo’Nique is winning. The continued increase of Emmy nominations for the “AHS” franchise is both staggering and impressive. “Gaming the system” or not, it’s telling that they received their highest tallies yet for going legitimate.July 17, 2015 at 1:57 pm #354050
I hope Wittrock and/or Bates win.July 17, 2015 at 2:10 pm #354051
I’m picking Sarah. I don’t remember the specific episode name, but at some point Bette and Dot had a pretty deep conversation. Two very different personalities and two totally different emotions being showcased back and forth without a beat. It was wild to watch, and I remember thinking, Sarah’s winning the Emmy.July 17, 2015 at 2:11 pm #354052
It could go 0 but with all the support I see them giving AHFS at least one acting award. So I have Sarah Paulson at number 1 she’s overdue, Kathy Bates just one last year and she’s doing something that no one else is doing she’s playing someone with two heads and she’s clearly the best out of the 6. For Finn he might be my personal choice but I think they will go for Damien’s snobby roll playing a historical figure or Murray who has the name recognition. I did think Lange would win last year she really surprised me but this year she defiantly has no chance there is way to much competition.
