The poll consists of the last 10 drama series that only received one nomination for Outstanding Drama. Of the 10, which deserved more than one?

Also, none of these 10 won; for further discussion, would you say one of these should have won when they actually were nominated? Were any a close second?

Of the ones on the list, I’m pretty sure that the fifth and final season of “Friday Night Lights” came very close to stopping that four-peat from “Mad Men.” With its surprise wins in both Writing and Lead Actor (Kyle Chandler), I’m sure Matt Weiner was sweating all night.

    – “Friday Night Lights” (season 5, 2011) – Lost to “Mad Men” (season 4) – On the air for 5 seasons.

    – “True Blood” (season 2, 2010) – Lost to “Mad Men” (season 3) – On the air for 7 seasons.

    – “Big Love” (season 3, 2009) – Lost to “Mad Men” (season 2) – On the air for 5 seasons.

    – “Heroes” (season 1, 2007) – Lost to “The Sopranos” (season 6.2) – On the air for 4 seasons.

    – “Deadwood” (season 2, 2005) – Lost to “Lost” (season 1) – On the air for 3 seasons.

    – “Joan of Arcadia” (season 1, 2004) – Lost to “The Sopranos” (season 5) – On the air for 2 seasons.

    – “Star Trek: The Next Generation” (season 7, 1994) – Lost to “Picket Fences” (season 2) – On the air for 7 seasons.

    – “Twin Peaks” (season 1, 1990) – Lost to “L.A. Law” (season 4) – On the air for 2 seasons.

    – “Wiseguy” (season 2, 1989) – Lost to “L.A. Law” (season 3) – On the air for 4 seasons.

    – “Dynasty” (season 2, 1982) – Lost to “Hill Street Blues” (season 2) – On the air for 9 seasons.

I still don’t know why FRIDAY NIGHTS LIGHTS got as little nominations as it did. Why didn’t they nominate it instead of True Blood in 2010? Why weren’t the two leads nominated more than twice? Or any of the supporting actors for that matter Zach Gilford killed it in the episode The Son. By the way the show won for writing not directing.

Dynasty was such a huge hit, such a cultural phenom that it is surprising they only got 1 nomination.

The only show I´ve watched out of all these is True Blood. As much as I loved the first seasons, I don´t think they really deserved another one. But I gotta say kuddos to the emmys for aknowledging the amazing season 2. It really earned that nomination.

    Friday Night Lights and Deadwood.

Big Love‘s first three seasons were good but those were very strong years for TV drama– the greater injustice was that none of the three sister wives were nominated.

Friday Night Lights, of course. How it didn’t get nominated every year, especially for Seasons 1 and 4, is outrageous. And the Season 4 snub is really bad considering that was the year both Chandler and Britton finally got nominated and the show also broke into the writing category with a nomination for “The Son”. I think it was easily in seventh place that year (the only other alternates could’ve been Damages (5 acting noms that yearand nominated in series the previous year), Treme (directing nom that year), Big Love (2 guest acting noms that year and nominated in series the previous year), or House (nominated in series the previous year)), and likely would’ve replaced True Blood had it gotten nominated.
