This does not include acting, directing or other nominations- just the series category (Comedy, Drama, and limited/movie). Which shows that were nominated in the series category eill not be back this year?

Comedy- I am not too confident about ny returning show except Veep, Blackish, and Silicon Valley. I could easily see Modern Family, Master of None, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Transparent falling out. As of now I only have Modern Family and Master of None falling out. I am close to removing Transparent because its overall support SUCKED this year.  Nobody cares about MF any more and Master of None was last years cool, young, new show that will be replaced by Atlanta.

Drama- This one is tough. I currently only have Better Call Saul, Homeland and The Americans returning. I am taking Mr. Robot out because it has consistent guild support, but fell out of the top categories at the top awards. House of Cards was filler that will be pushed out by the explosion in new shows.

Mini Series- American Crime seems likely to fall out due to the explosion in this category.

I could see Modern Family and Master of None falling off in comedy; Mr. Robot, Homeland, House of Cards (in that order) in drama

In the drama races at least Homeland or Mr. Robot will be dropped, maybe both.

Are there really that many contenders in Comedy for so many shows to get dropped?

I have the exact opposite. Better Call Saul, Homeland and The Americans are dropping out while Mr Robot and House of Cards are staying.

?? What’s your reasoning behind this? I agree with Homeland, but why the other two?

Im actually thinking about taking Homeland out- despite its AMAZING last episode. My order from safest to least safe is

    1) Better Call Saul

    2) The Americans

    CUT OFF LINE

    3) Mr. Robot

    4) Homeland

    5) House of Cards

In fact if only 2 get in, what will be the other 2 non Big 3 shows? As of now that seems like The Handmaidens tale and this is us. But I will never predict another network drama until it happened because Empire burned everybody so bad. Maybe I’ll predict a network drama is a Martin Scorsese level name is attached- but until then- NADA.

I’m assuming your big 3 are Stranger Things, Westworld, and The Crown. And then if you think Better Call Saul and The Americans are going to be the only returning shows, I’d say the next safest bets are This is Us and The Handmaid’s Tale. You also got Ray Donovan which is a threat because it’s catching on with the Academy for some strange reason, and I’ll throw The Leftovers in there because I’m praying for a miracle.

Three of the shows I’m predicting are the obvious ones; Westworld, The Crown and Stranger Things. I also have This Is Us in there because the buzz around it is phenomenal. I have Mr Robot as one of my series predictions because I believe it will get four acting nominations from Malek, Slater, Chaikan and even Doubleday. With those acting noms, it will go on to get a series nom (especially since it’s basically Twin Peaks for hackers). HoC will one day win this category so until then it is a shoe-in for series. My final spot is left to either BCS or The Americans or a surprise nomination (which I’m leaning towards). BCS is just a nostalgia trip for BB fans and it is in weaker position every year since BB ended. The Americans snub stems from the category placement of Newton and Moore (if the prediction centre is to be believed). Both of those women will push out Russell and Danes to get in. This will set off a chain reaction IMO for The Americans in actor and series. Snubs all round. The Emmys will finally wave goodbye to Homeland and Danes this year, and everyone will be better for it. This is all depending on whether BCS and The Americans have the best season of their runs so far this year. If that happens then the surprise nomination spot could open for one of them.

What would be the suprise spot? Handmaiden? Ray Don? OINTB? Legion?

    For Comedy:

Atlanta – the new show on the block
    Black-ish – keeps doing better
Master of None – Trump era
Modern Family – we can never get rid of this, like herpes
    Transparent – Trump era
    Veep – HBO
Surprise nomination (I’m thinking Mom or Last Man on Earth, but that’s just personal preference)

That would be the best think ever but I really doubt it. There is an open actor spot so I could see Justin Theroux sneaking in.

    Miniseries:

American Crime – I don’t get it but it’s always here
    AHS: Roanoke – Ryan Murphy
    Fargo – this shit’s lit
Feud – it’s about Bette Davis and Joan Crawford
    The Night Of – HBO

For Comedy, I have Modern Family being finally dropped. Master of None I would’ve dropped if it didn’t win writing last year. It’s also coming up later, so that helps it maintain its slot. In Drama, I have Mr. Robot and Homeland. The former is obvious, but the later is a question mark. It managed to get back in after a rebound in quality and has maintained its quality based on what I read. It also has a plushy time period when it’s airing. But with all of the new shows, it can’t stay right? As for Limited Series, American Crime could be dropped here. I don’t have it getting any acting noms this year. If it maintains the quality it had in its incredible second season (and this season is timely with it tackling immigration and race) it should be safe.
