Now that Movie/Mini Supporting nominees have to submit an episode to Emmy judges, I’m wondering what episode would be a winner for Sarah Paulson? There are three great ones to consider:

Episode 1 focuses on Bette/Dot so much they’re practically co-leads. Plus, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett are hardly in it so voters won’t get distracted with their nominated performances.

Episode 2 also showcases Bette/Dot well, and Sarah actually gets to sing at the end.

Episode 9 has those great emotional moments where the girls are talking about having the surgery, and also where Dot tells Jimmy that she loves him.

I’d say, play it safe Sarah and go with Episode 1 but then I remember that Jessica sings in it and removes her legs (pretty much OMG moments that could potentially steal Sarah’s thunder). Episode 2 is not something, I’d consider, but Episode 9 is really heartbreaking with her confessing and the surgery – it really is devastating so I think she ultimately should go with that one, because that one has the most range.

Still, for some reason, I feel this system benefits Kathy Bates who has one or two truly mndblowing episodes, which in my mind rival Sarah’s achievements. But with Kathy saying she wants Sarah to win, I presume she’ll pick a tape that helps Sarah as well.

I will always consider AHS a drama series and it should be in that category but Emmys are getting more ridiculous with every year so you have what you have.

As for your question she should go with Tupperware Party Massacre.

Definitely Tupperware Party Massacre. Sure she has a lot of screen time in the first episode but she leaves an impact with Tupperware Party Massacre.

It’s tough to say, but ‘m gonna suggest episode 1 since the plot is more coherent and is mostly focused on Lange and Paulson, whereas in episode 9 she has some strong scenes, but it might be confusing with all the various plot points going on.

I have not seen the ninth episode, but the premiere is better than the second episode for her.

I’m really rooting for Sarah Paulson to win. But the only acceptable loss will be to Mo’Nique for Bessie. It’s like in Lead Actress where I’m rooting for Frances McDormand, but won’t be mad at all if Maggie Gyllenhaal or Queen Latifah win. Paulson/Mo’Nique in Supporting are the equivalent of McDormand/Gyllenhaal/Latifah. A win from anyone else will be a robbery. (Claire Foy should be competing right alongside Paulson and Mo’Nique.)

I’m curious where Paulson will fall next year. Is she appearing in AHS: Hotel? I know she’s in American Crime Story: People vs. O.J. Simpson, but perhaps she goes Lead? Category-placement is going to be all over the place. I already have Connie Britton as a lock for PvOJ, as Emmy has proven they will nominate her at least once for every role. But I am curious if Paulson and/or Selma Blair will be considered Lead or Supporting.

She will be in Hotel. It seems like she will be the big bad of the season.

She is her strongest in the first half of the season, so the first episode should definitely be her submission. It introduces Bette and Dot and shows her creating two different personalities.

Maybe in the first two episodes, but after that she kinda just disappears in the story until it really picks up from 9-13.

I would go with Episode 1. It’s a little longer I think and she really owns the episode

She’ll be the lead in American Crime Story and Supporting in American Horror Story. I’m sure she’ll get nominated for both unless ACS flops really bad

Do we need to worry about Kathy Bates now?
