Sense8 is one of these science-fiction television series that are simply genius. While having a following, they fail getting acclaimed, with few as exceptions (Heroes, Tatiana Maslany for Orphan Black).
In my humble opinion, for its first year, this show has five strong possible nominations: Casting, Main Title Design, Main Title Theme Music, Stunt Coordination & Musical Direction.
I would nominate it in Art Direction, Cinematography & Picture Editing, as well. I believe that its Direction needs some recognition as well.
But the big bet is the acting categories. With such a diverse ensemble of talented actors, who is the one most worthy, and most possible of an Emmy nomination? I know, it is a stretch, but which one was the best to you?
I believe Jamie Clayton stole the spotlight early in the series, but as the season progresses , I fell in love with how Max Riemelt is portraying Wolfgang. To me, it’s Max Riemelt for Outstanding (Supporting, I’m guessing?) Actor In A Drama Series, and I’m going to campaign for him to earn a nomination!April 8, 2016 at 8:15 am #662722
Being worthy of nominations and having a chance of a nomination are very different things, but going on performance alone (considering there isn’t really a strong precedent to follow) Clayton has the best chance.April 8, 2016 at 9:05 am #662728
None of them are getting nominated, sorry. However, Jamie Clayton and Brian J. Smith deserve to be nominated.
I believe their strongest chances are in directing and cinematography categories. If The Wachowskis campaigned a little they could get a kinda surprising nomination especially now that the category is up to 6 nominees.April 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm #662776
They’re all basically completely impossible. Admittedly, Clayton is the least completely impossible.April 8, 2016 at 8:00 pm #662812
Clayton. Doona Bae is really good too.April 8, 2016 at 8:41 pm #662816
I havent seen the show so I don’t have any bias towards it and can’t say if someone is worthy of a nomination. But I dont see any actors getting in, if it was something like The Americans or The Leftovers where it is getting all this critical praise, then maybe. But I havent heard one person outside these forums talk about the showApril 9, 2016 at 4:42 am #662837
Silvestre had the best performance in Season 1 and he has more possible winning episodes than the others. Brian J. Smith is probably likely to get nominated (if any of the actors get recognition).. He was recently nominated for a Tony Award so that might boost his chances. I however don’t expect to see any of the actors pop up at all bc The Emmys.
