I need your help, Derbyites! Other than Sarah Jessica Parker, which performers won their first acting Emmys for their show’s final season?

Looking over the last 15 years (2000-2014), it has happened four times

    James Spader, The Practice (2004)*
Kyle Chandler, Friday Night Lights (2011)
Cynthia Nixon, Sex and the City (2004)
    Kristin Chenoweth, Pushing Daisies (2009)**

*That was Spader’s first and only year on the show, and he would eventually be nominated and win mutliple times for playing the same character on Boston Legal.
**Pushing Daisies only lasted 2 seasons

Two of the most deserving Emmys of all time!

John Ritter for Three’s Company, Michael J. Fox didn’t win for the final season of Spin City but it was highly publicized that it would be HIS final season, same deal for Mandy Patinkin and Andre Braugher (Chicago Hope and Homicide), Carl Betz in 1969 for the second and final season of Judd For the Defense, Jean Marsh for Upstairs, Downstairs. One season wonders include Walter Windom for My World and Welcome To It and Barbara Stanwyck for The Barbara Stanwyck Show, Hal Holbrook for The Bold Ones: The Senator, Ron Liebman in Kaz, Richard Kiley for A Year in the Life, James Earl Jones for Gabriel’s Fire, Susan Hampshire twice for the PBS shows The Forsyte Saga and The First Churchills as well as Glenda Jackson for Elizabeth R (These were pre-miniseries category though.), Michael Learned for Nurse.

This is the lead winners. I’ll do supporting if I have time.

I think Tom might’ve brought up a thread where we talked about people who won or were nominated for Emmys in their final seasons. If only I could remember the title.

Anyway, Mary Alice in I’ll Fly Away is another example.

If you’re including being killed off Drea de Matteo and Margo Martindale both won in the supporting category in that one season and done scenario.

Absolutely! Ms. Daly won Best Actress for four of six seasons of Cagney and Lacey. I believe this is an issue of semantics. Is the question, Did the actors win their first Emmy ever or their first Emmy for that series during the program’s final season?

The way I’m interepreting the question it is Which performer won their first acting Emmy for the final season of their series.
