    No Brooklyn Nine-Nine in Comedy Series or Actor and only 2 nominations in total was a shock for me.

    Had Samberg in that number 1 position. And I’m very surprised Michael Sheen didn’t get a nom for masters of sex

    Actually though the emmys weren’t a track wreck. Some damn good shows got in. But not the GOOD WIFE!!! I think I’m just gonna give the good wife drama series in the gold derby tv awards cause I feel so bad for it.

    Oh, wow. It didn’t sink until now that Samberg got passed over.

    It really goes to show how much the voters love Andre Braugher when they can still nominate him for something the voters seemed to go out of their way to ignore.

    Elisabeth Moss and Michelle Monaghan are shocking omissions. (As are B99 and Samberg but I don’t really care about them.) And I’m really sorry for Dean Norris, Blair Underwood, Rebecca Ferguson & Mindy Kaling although I can’t say I’m surprised. Too bad The Good Wife didn’t make it afterall.

    On the bright side, all the OITNB ladies, even though I had preferred Manning over Lyonne, as it seems like Pennsatucky does not get to do a lot anymore this season. Fred Armisen and Kate McKinnon are great inclusion, especially if you consire who they kicked out. And I’m glad for Julianna Margulies and Josh Charles returning to their respective categories.

    Moss and Monaghan aren’t that surprising. Lead Actress in a Drama is extremely competitive, and we knew Mad Men could falter by airing only ahlf a season. Monaghan is slightly more of a shock, but it’s not like True Detective was built on her performance as much as it was on McConaughey, Harrelson, and the atmosphere.

    Agreed on Manning being an unfortunate omission, though the overall love raises my hopes that OITNB do well next month.

    I’m glad that The Good Wife got the attention in acting, but where is it in Series? Really? Downton Abbey again? It’s so upsetting. I might be the only one, but I’m glad that Daniels is back for the Newsroom. Sorry! And I’m glad that Silicon Valley got in a Series, that is well-deserved.

    The biggest shock today was Ricky Gervais’ nomination for Derek. NO ONE saw that coming! The Emmys must really love that guy.

    Pleasant surprises:
    Lizzy Caplan’s nomination.
    Josh Charles’ nomination
    All of the love for OITNB! It is certainly a threat to win Comedy Series this year!
    All of the increased love for Veep.
    Both of the TD men getting nominated together
    Kate McKinnion’s nomination!

    Who I Initially Predicted, then removed and now am upset that they actually got nominated
    * William H. Macy (Shameless)
    * Jim Parsons (The Normal Heart)
    * Ricky Gervais (Derek)
    * Kate McKinnon (SNL)
    * Kristen Wiig (The Spoils of Babylon)
    * Downton Abbey (Drama Series)
    * Silicon Valley (Comedy Series)
    * Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom)

    Who’s Back In:
    * Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly)
    * Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife)
    * Tina Fey (SNL)

    Who’s Finally Out:
    * Dot Marie Jones (Glee)
    * Ed O’Neill and Sofia Vergara, as well as Eric Stonestreet, again (Modern Family)
    * Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men)

    Double Nominees
    * Jane Lynch (Best Host – Hollywood Game Night, Best Narration – Penguins of Madagascar)
    * Jim Parsons (Comedy Actor – The Big Bang Theory, Supp Movie Actor – The Normal Heart)

    Snubs I Am Most Upset About, But Not Surprised About
    * The Good Wife (they messed up big time by not submitting HITTING THE FAN in writing)
    * Peter Sarsgaard (The Killing)
    * Pablo Schreiber (both Law & Order: SVU AND Orange is the New Black)
    * Jason Biggs (OITNB – Season 1)
    * Emmy Rossum (Shameless) – a dramatic role in a comedy. Her character’s actions are unforgiveable by Emmys…maybe she should change her name to Emmyless Rossum
    * Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) – who is Mayim Bialik screwing to get this much attention over one of the original stars?
    * Masters of Sex – Lead Actor (Michael Sheen), Drama Series and Drama Writing
    * Brooklyn 9-9 – Lead Actor (Andy Samberg) and Comedy Series and Comedy Writing and Directing
    * Taylor Kitsch (The Normal Heart) – he certainly had a showier part than Jim Parsons and Alfred Molina
    * Looking – Lead Actor (Jonathan Groff), Guest Actor (Raul Castillo and Scott Bakula), Comedy Writing

    Who’s Got a Real Boost
    *Ryan Murphy – The Normal Heart got 4 Supporting Actor nominations, plus AHS picked up dual nominations in Actress and Supporting Actress as well as finally broke into the Writing and Directing Categories

        ***Will Ryan Murphy be the first person to win both TV Movie and TV Mini-Series in the same year?

    First of it’s kind?
    * Correct me if I’m wrong — Joan Cusack is the first woman to be nominated in both Comedy and Drama for the same part, and the first performer to do so for the same show. The only person to achieve this accomplishment was Ed Asner, who was a winner in Supp Comedy Actor for MARY TYLER MOORE and a Best Drama Actor winner for the same role in LOU GRANT

    Jodie Foster got a Best Director nomination for OITNB!

    One pleasant surprise is The Normal Heart’s nominations in the Supporting Actor category (Bomer, Mantello, Molina, Parsons). All gave brilliant performances. Plus, Lena Headey’s nomination was an even bigger surprise.
