We all know that Game of Thrones has a massive cast and a lot of performers bring their a-games which is why I continue to be baffled by the fact that only Peter Dinklage has won an Emmy, which he deserved for season 1 but not so much for season 5. So who from this impressive Ensemble do you think should Have Been a nominee or winner here are my choices for the main cast

    Peter Dinklage
    Deserved nominations for seasons 1-4 & 6
Deserved to win for Season 1&4

    Lena Headey
    Deserved nominations for seasons 1-7
Deserved to win for seasons 2,4,5,6,&7 (and lets be honest, pretty sure I’ll fell the same way about season 8)

    Kit Harington
    Deserved nominations for seasons 4-7
Deserved to win for seasons 6&7

    Emilia Clarke
    Deserved nominations for seasons 1-7
Deserved to win for seasons 1,3&7

    Maisie Williams
    Deserved nominations for seasons 2,4,7

    Sophie Turner
    Deserved nominations for seasons 5-7

    Nickolaj Coster-Waldau
    Deserved nominations for seasons 3,4,&7

    Diana Rigg
Deserved nominations for seasons 3-7 (she should have been nominated in the Supporting category for season 6)
Deserved to win for season 3,5,&7

    Liam Cunningham
    Deserved nominations for seasons 5-6

How can Clarke win for S7 while Headey also deserved the win?

Coster-Waldau deserved to win for S4 and the only win for any member of the cast.
Sean Bean deserved a nom for S1.
Ian McShane deserved a nom for S6.

Using actual category placement/eligibility, something like this:

Season 1: Sean Bean (win), Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Michelle Fairley

Season 2: Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey

Season 3: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Diana Rigg

Season 4: Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Pedro Pascal, Diana Rigg

Season 5: Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Diana Rigg

    Season 6: Iwan Rheon

Season 7: Aidan Gillen, Lena Headey, Diana Rigg

The most deserving nominee from last season would be Sophie Turner and still she does not make my top 6.

Turner was the MVP of last season? Really? I don’t get the Turner fanboys. I just don’t get it.

And come on Riley. Sean Bean should have won?

I would give Clarke and Harington both Wins in Lead for season 7 while Headey would win in Supporting, sorry I should have made that clear

Um, Indira Varma anyone? Come on. She should not be overlooked. I have no idea if she has a realistic chance to receive a nod this year or not but she absolutely should. She was devastating in the Tyene poisoning scene.

Lena Heady absolutely dominated S7 and she is honestly overdue for a win because she has consistently gotten great material and always blew it out of the water. Nikolaj and Peter were also really good in S7. These are the ones I’m rooting for this year.

Bean had scant screen time for a lead, but was note-perfect. Honourable mentions to “The Suitcase”, Terriers and Michael C. Hall grieving, with full disclosure that I have not seen Friday Night Lights or the end of the second season of Justified and a reminder that Breaking Bad was not on that year.

Nope. It just wasn’t a leading awards worthy role. No matter how perfect he was in it. It especially wasn’t that season.

So much gravitas just in his voice.

Yes, the gravel in the throat voice does add weight.

I guess that mean Tom Hanks should have won the Oscar for The Post.

I’m still somewhat surprised that Dinklage is the only acting winner. I would love to see Headey take it in the end but I’m doubtful.

There are lots of great actors from the show who haven’t received nominations but Pedro Pascal especially stands out as kind of a head scratching snub. Coster-Waldau has also been consistently excellent if underused. I suspect he’s been close to a nomination once or twice. My under the radar choice would be Essie Davis as a guest actress who made a big impact as Lady Crane with scant screen time and material.

I’m also in the minority who thought that Harrington and Clarke did well with their boosted material this season (although I don’t think they should go lead and I doubt they will).

Actors who should’ve won (not counting Peter Dinklage’s deserved win for Season 1 (2011))

    Season 2 (2012)

    Drama Supporting Actor: Peter Dinklage
Drama Supporting Actress: Maisie Williams (wasn’t even NOMINATED)

    Season 4 (2014)

    Drama Supporting Actor: Peter Dinklage
Drama Guest Actor: Pedro Pascal (wasn’t even NOMINATED)

    Season 5 (2015)

    Drama Supporting Actress: Lena Headey

    Season 6 (2016)

    Drama Supporting Actor: Kit Harington
