    Hi all,

This year, Max Greenfield is nominated for playing a player on “New Girl,” and that made me wonder how many sexually promiscuous characters have won Emmys in the past.

Those that immediately come to mind include Rue McClanahan for “Golden Girls” and Betty White for “Mary Tyler Moore Show.”

A few others I can think of that have been nominated are Neil Patrick Harris (“How I Met Your Mother”) and Kim Cattrall (“Sex and the City”).

Is Schmidt really a player? He certainly believes he’s a player but I don’t think that actually makes him one. And he wasn’t that promiscuous during the first season of “New Girl”.

All the women on “Sex and the City” were sexually promiscuous, mostly during the first seasons of the show where they had different partners practically every episode. So I guess that disqualifies Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis because their nominations came in seasons where their characters slowed down a bit and were in relationships.

I wouldn’t say Will and Grace, but definitely Jack and Karen.

Nominated: I would say Slattery and Hamm for Mad Men.

Definitely Charlie Sheen for Two and a Haf Men. Even Holland Taylor (and didn’t she win for something like this for The Practice?)

Katherine Helmond for Who’s The Boss?, Rachel Griffiths for Six Feet Under…

All of this reminds me of immortal 2005 season when it was said that Eva Longoria and Nicollette Sheridan didn’t get Emmy nods because their characters were a cheating wife and promiscuous neighbor respectively. And it wasn’t about that at all, wasn’t it? If there were so many before them and after?

    Vanessa Williams, Ugly Betty
    Mary-Louise Parker, Weeds
    Ted Danson, Damages
I recall some moments from them but I’m not sure if it would qualify.

Before his relationship with Cece started, I think Schmidt was definitely a player. It didn’t always happen on-screen, but there were plenty of references to his revolving-door romantic style.

    And c’mon, sexy Santa!
