Miss Blankenship all the way 😉
This is tough to pick a frontrunner. The only nominated show in this category I don’t watch is “The Closer”, so I can’t comment on her performance.
Based on name alone, you’d think Cusack, McDonnell, and Woodard (3 Oscar nominees) have the edge over the others. Especially Woodard, who has 4 Emmys already and a ton more nominations. But her performance was…. not really great. It’s also ‘True Blood’ so will they even take that nomination seriously?
Cusack was wonderful on ‘Shameless’ and she’d be my personal pick.
McDonnell has the buzz that this role is getting it’s own series, she’s very respected, and sort of has the ‘BSG’ snub factor (according to many).
On the other hand you have industry veterans Heller and Devine who’ve been working forever and it’s their first nomination. Devine has always been a welcome bright spot on ‘Grey’s’ (and she was great in the episode she submitted) and Heller was a so memorable on ‘Mad Men’, so you could make a case for either.
Then you have younger actresses Buono and Stiles who both had a VERY significant arc on their shows this season. Stiles could go in the fashion of Lithgow and take it, but are they really going to vote for Julia Stiles? That doesn’t add up. And honestly it’s hard to think that Buono would win over Heller.
This is a hard one to call.
For now I’m gonna say:
1 – Cusack
2 – McDonnell
3 – Heller
4 – Woodard
5 – Devine
6 – Stiles
7 – Buono
