I never would have imagined not voting for James Gandolfini on this but Bryan Cranston even outdoes him. To go from the annoying dad on Malcolm in the Middle to this epic role is a miracle in itself, especially when AMC wanted John Cusack (would have worked) or Matthew Broderick (WTF). It’s actually Breaking Bad that made me appreciate Malcolm in the Middle even more; I feel like now I don’t know who the “real” Cranston is, considering he created two totally different characters on two totally different generes that just happened to both be television series. He’s an Oscar win waiting to happen.

And honestly, I question if Gandolfini sort of “is” Tony Soprano. Tony comes out in all of his roles – and don’t for a moment think I am bringing down his performance – which makes me wonder if The Sopranos was a one-time thing. I saw him on Broadway in Carnage and it was pretty much Tony Soprano on the stage (which was pretty damn cool).

Special shoutout to Michael Chiklis. Not the best of the group but what a great role and surprise from the Academy honoring the best submission of the bunch (and I love my Six Feet Under boys).

Cranston.  Although, I did love me some Spader on The Practice and in the beginning of Boston Legal.

Bryan Cranston is the greatest winner of any acting award in any medium.

Yous are all a bunch of idiots. Cranston is nowhere near as good as Gandolfini.

I have to go w/my heart and vote for Kyle Chandler. Yes, Bryan Cranston’s transition from “Malcolm in the Middle” to “Breaking Bad” will go down in the record books, but it is Kyle’s heartfelt/realistic anchoring performance as Coah Eric Taylor that will forever stay with me and I will argue is one of the best roles of the last twenty years.

I voted for James Gandolfini, but it was really a close deal with Bryan Cranston.

My head says Bryan Cranston, but my heart says Kyle Chandler. I’m gonna go with the latter. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!

3rd place would be a tie between Michael Chiklis and Kiefer Sutherland.

Wow, never would have expected the forum member named “FNLFan” to pick Kyle Chandler.

But yeah, I ended up picking Gandolfini, with Cranston close behind. Love the wins by all of these guys, though, even if I would not have minded spreading the wealth around just a little bit. Poor Anthony Edwards, Hugh Laurie, Martin Sheen and Michael C. Hall.
