Not sure if we’ve addressed this topic before, but I’m wondering what actors have won Emmys after their shows were cancelled? Not just went off their air after a complete run like a “Breaking Bad,” specifically shows that were axed by the network, like Kristin Chenoweth in “Pushing Daisies.” It’s a big topic, I’m sure, but what are some big ones?

This goes right to my Rainman-like brain…brace yourselves.

1969: My World and Welcome To It wins Comedy Series and Lead Actor(William Windom)

1975: Tony Randall wins the Lead Actor Emmy for The Odd Couple, and laments that he is unemployed due to the show’s cancellation.

1976: Dick Van Dyke’s Variety series wins the Emmy even though it was cancelled after 3 months. Here’s the link to the Emmy win.

1979: Ron Liebman wins Drama Actor for Kaz, though the show lasted only one season.

1983: Judd Hirsch wins his second Emmy for Taxi and during his acceptance speech eviscerates NBC for cancelling the show.

1988; Richard Kiley wins Drama Lead Actor for A Year in the Life, which was cancelled after one season.(He had won lead actor for the miniseries in 87, but as a weekly series, the show only lasted one year.)

1992: Dana Delaney wins Lead Actress for China Beach over a year after the show’s cancellation due to when the final episodes aired.

Blythe Danner is a big one. She won for the second time when “Huff” was cancelled and made a point to address it in her acceptance speech (something like, what are you gonna do, they’re good guys over at Showtime).

    Two immediately come to mind.

Thief with Andre Braugher in 2006 pioneered cancelled shows submitting as miniseries.

The Ben Stiller Show got Emmys in 1993 for its writers including Stiller, Judd Apatow, David Cross and Bob Odenkirk.
