Let’s pretend HBO had a new hit TV series much like Veep, but it’s about Donald Trump as a U.S. presidential candidate. Who would you cast in the lead and supporting parts? What would the story lines be? What would its tone be? Give us YOUR vision of such a series if it was done RIGHT.
Would it win any Emmys?August 13, 2015 at 1:37 pm #357564
Gary Busey as Trump. Hugely farcical in nature. Hilarity ensues. Busey plays it straight, which adds to the humour.August 13, 2015 at 1:58 pm #357565
Harrison Ford in a 24/Homeland type thriller. Goes around the streets fighting crime and saving lives.August 13, 2015 at 2:08 pm #357566
Ed Harris was the first thing that came to my mind.August 13, 2015 at 2:59 pm #357567
Just put a squirrel on Bryan Cranston’s head and there you have it.August 13, 2015 at 3:01 pm #357568
I could see Jeff Daniels totally pulling it off as Donald Trump.August 13, 2015 at 3:27 pm #357569
There’s only one choice:
Of course this will have to wait until after Mr. Trump serves his two full terms as the 45th president of the United States.August 13, 2015 at 3:30 pm #357570
By the way: It’s going to be huge. And it will win a huge amount of gorgeous, very huge golden-girl Emmy Awards. And the Emmy Awards, as The Donald will note, are huge.August 13, 2015 at 6:56 pm #357571
Go big or go home. Michael Sheen as Trump, Meryl Streep as Clinton. The entire series focuses on their unlikely progression to a shared Clinton/Trump ticket, and an unlikely covert romance. I think there’s no way a movie about this election is anything but satire.

Tommy Wiseau. He’s the only person with the ability to understand what Trump is saying.August 14, 2015 at 7:13 am #357573
Would Darrell Hammond not be allowed to do this? Seems like the clear choice to me, and I think he has the chops to surprise people.August 14, 2015 at 2:25 pm #357574
Alec Baldwin as Trump. Comedy but plays it straight like 30 Rock.August 14, 2015 at 2:25 pm #357575

I like the idea of Alfred Molina as Trump.August 16, 2015 at 3:29 am #357577
One thing is clear if such a fun TV series were to be actually in the works: Rosie O’Donnell MUST make a special cameo appearance! After all, The Donald himself even admitted after the recent Republican debate that he owes Rosie one!
