This year at the Emmys we have a lot of races that could go either way…

That being said who do you currently have in 3rd or 4th place that if they won you wouldn’t be THAT surprised?

For me its Best Actor in a MiniSeries/or Movie Currently I have Martin Freeman in 3rd place but like most people he’s my personal favorite and I could see if enough of the voters don’t like Ruffalo and only watch 1-2 episodes of Fargo I could see a not so shocking surprise in this category.

Another, upset I could see happening would be Joanne Froggat with her storyline and the great empathy her charater conveys pulling this off but her path means jumping past HUGE hurdles with Gunn and Baranski in the category.

I think Martin Freeman is very likely to upset. Like they pointed out in the slugfest, the viewing panel for Lead actor will watch Fargo and Sherlock so they’ll see Freeman as Lester Nygaard and John Watson. Two great performances and so different. But I have to admit, I’m very biased. I would love it if Freeman won both Lead and Supporting this year.

I wouldn’t be upset with Joanne Froggatt winning.

Acting is not just about screaming and going crazy and crying. It’s about passion and what you put into it.

But these are my positioned upsets:

    Amy Pohler (LActress Comedy)
    Ricky Gervais (LActor Comedy)
    Mayim Bialik (SActress Comedy)
    Tony Hale (SActor Comedy)

Martin Freeman (LActor & SActor Mini-Series/TV Film)
    Kathy Bates (SActress Mini-Series/TV Film)
    Jessica Lange (LActress Mini-Series/TV Film)

    Michelle Dockery (LActress Drama)
    Jon Hamm (LActor Drama)
    Joanne Froggatt (SActress Drama)
    Jon Voight (SActor Drama)

Stephen Frears (Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight) for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special.

Watch out for that one. The Emmys love Movie producers.

Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly) does have a great episode……I also think there will be a surprise in the Leading Actor in a Drama Series….wouldn’t be surprised to see Woody H. win it.

Julie Bowen could make a surprise comeback, if voters are too put off by Janney’s embarrassing vagina jokes, or Mulgrew’s long-winded dramatic spiel. All it takes is to have a group of Modern Family-loving voters.

I am also personally biased, but ^this is also why I think he can win. Having two performances in big shows is a huge benefit. Looking at Tony Hale last year, I doubt he would have won had he not had Arrested Development too. I would honestly be happy if either of the men from Fargo won. They would both deserve it.

If Freeman wins, it must happen in Lead Actor. For Matt Bomer to lose would just be… One of the most unacceptable losses in this award’s history.

I’m gonna say Joe Mantello. I know all people are all over Bomer, but…I’m gonna say this and I know people will want crucify me, but outside his physical transformation didn’t find much more, acting wise. I know it says a lot from him and his commitment with the character, but…outside of that and his final scene I really didn’t see anything. I know Joe Mantello is on this race for just one big scene but…WHAT A SCENE! It really stayed with me after I watched The Normal Heart and I think the monologue of his character works as a broad scope of the thinking, fears and desperation of gay men in that period of time.

Also, I’m predicting him to upset because we’ve seen this kind of surprises in the miniseries categories in the past. I think that if someone can pull off a Barry Pepper this year, it could be Joe Mantello.

Melissa McCarthy for both categories. And maybe Steve Bushemi for CGA
