You cannot be serious. Did you even watch? She did nothing but comment on the goings on in the same ballroom for the whole season and not even in an interesting way. I love Anderson but this is where these arguments are lost.
I did and I accept I might be biased with that decision.
it’s not like the globes or sags nominated her either in the last 10 years
Anderson is still picking great projects so hopefully she’ll be in something big soon. I’m still pretty mad she isn’t nominated this year for American Gods.
The Emmys loved Gillian Anderson but she moved to England and didn’t campaign for anything. If she didn’t move to England and kept all her Hollywood connections and relationships it may have meant more Hollywood projects and more emmy nominations because they loved her! But she had different priorities and different tastes and hate campaigning hate being Hollywood.
Personally, I think that her work on PBS right after Bleak House, Any Human Heart in 2011 and especially Great Expectations in 2012, deserved more attention, but everything listed in the first post had way too much competition for shows that also didn’t really get campaigns that worked for those more niche programs. And if she had accepted the role of Cora on Downton Abbey, she would have likely also gotten the Emmy nomination Elizabeth McGovern received for the first season.

She was up for that role? I love McGovern as Cora, but Anderson would have brought it to another level.
