After winning major Golden Globes in 2014, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and star Andy Samberg were snubbed at the 2015 ceremony. Will “The Affair” and star Ruth Wilson follow the same unfortunate trajectory this year at the Globes? If so, what will take “The Affair’s” spot?

Yes they will totally snub “The Affair” and I’m sure “Empire” will replace it and can even win as Best Drama Series, also “Taraji P. Henson” can replace the former champ Ruth Wilson as Best Drama Actress.

Empire is a perfect fit for the Globes since they love musical series (Glee, Smash).

Yes. They usually snub their winners, and keep nominating the ones who don’t win.

oh yes! since it won I knew it was gonne be left out of the competition for next year. It was a surprise win and out of the blue.

I agree with “Empire” to take the spot, but there’s also “UnReal”. At the GG, even Lifetime can prevail.

I hope not. I think The Affair has upped itself based on the episodes I’ve seen so far of S2. I still have it as getting nominations, and Wilson too. I also have Empire. What I can’t see happening is just The Affair being missed out from last year’s line up, and be replaced by Empire.

Empire will sweep and rightfully so. It will be hard for Wilson and The Affair to get back in, but i’m almost sure they’ll nominate Dominic West again.

Yes. Since they know it won’t be embraced by Emmy voters any time soon there is no reason for them to stick with it anymore.(just like B-99) Transparent also won big last year but it also proved itself to be an Emmy winner so it will definitely come back.(Maybe stronger than last year with nomination for Hoffmann or Landecker, too.)

Yes, The Affair will be snubbed after their Emmy snubs. Just like Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I think this season is amazing on the show and would support the nominations for all 4 cast members. Here’s hoping we’re wrong in thinking this way. They should dump the boring Homeland and keep this show.

I fear it might but it definitly doesn’t deserve to. This show is doing some of the most incredible work on TV I’ve seen in years and deserves to be nominated over good not great stuff like Empire

If The Affair had been nominated at the Emmys, I would be predicting it this year, but that’s not the case. While I think Season 2 is actually stronger, unfortunately I don’t think it will be nominated. Though, I would LOVE to see a surprise Supporting Actress, Drama nomination for Maura Tierney.

Besides “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” what are some other examples of a show being embraced by the Golden Globes one year, but then being snubbed the next?

In Treatment led its year with five nominations for its first
season (drama series, three supporting, plus a drama actor win), then
got nothing for its second and third seasons.

Felicity won drama actress and was nominated for drama series, then was shut out for its remaining four years.

Boss won drama actor and was nominated for drama series, then was shut out for its second season.

Deadwood also won drama actor and was nominated for drama series, then was shut out for its second and third seasons.

The Shield won drama series and drama actor for its first season, then was never nominated in drama series again, although it did get acting nominations.

Ugly Betty won comedy series and comedy actress for its first year, then was never nominated in comedy series again, although it did get comedy actress nominations.

Commander in Chief won drama actress and was nominated for drama series and supporting actor for the first half of its first season, then got nothing for the second half of its first season.

Enlightened won comedy actress and was nominated for comedy series, then got nothing for its second season.

Curb Your Enthusiasm won comedy series for its third season.  Its only other comedy series nomination was for its fifth season.  It got comedy actor nominations for its third, fourth and fifth seasons.

I hope they won’t do that with “Jane the Virgin” this year. It deserve to have atleast be nominated for Best Comedy Series.
