We all know how much the HFPA loves hot new shows and “Outlander” certainly ticks that box.

Add in the fact that it is an international co-production and worldwide hit and it could prove irresistible to these foreign-born journalists.

Could it win Drama Series AND the two top acting races?

What other rookie shows could contend?

The idea hadnt occurred to me. It would have massive competition from other dramatic/fantasy shows.

Balfe is amazing, but she’s in tough for a nomination, let alone a win. It’s the Globes sure, but where in the cast are the “stars” GG loves so much?

I’m going to guess no at this point for drama and acting. But if it’s nominated, that would be mighty fine imo.

Besides, the series is very esoteric. And no dragons doesnt help.

Why the stand alone thread, given this is being talked about on the Globes TV thread?

Either way, no. I have not heard anything about this show anywhere other than on this website. You’re creating click bait hype for fans of the show, that’s all. It ain’t happening.

Bloodline, Better Call Saul, Narcos, Empire
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Last Man On Earth, Catastrophe (my pipeline nomination)

It almost feels like people from this site work for the show or something, cuz seriously this is almost the only place I hear talk about it.

Outlander was a “hot new show” last year and it didn’t get in anywhere at the GG. Why would it next year? If I didn’t know any better I’d say Goldderby is on Outlander/Starz’s payroll coz no one outside this site is talking about the show.

    This conversation/discussion is  looking familiar.

Personally, I dont CARE if noone is talking about this show outside of here, which since, I disdain conventional media, I repeat, causes me no concern whatsoever. Plus, I’m not sold on this nooneiswatching/talking stuff.

I just care about the quality of the show. It isnt “perfect”, but it’s one show that I watch. I can count on one hand the shows which I watch, and NOONE around here is talking about most of them.

How about Vikings btw? Another stellar show that the Globes wouldnt watch for over five minutes (no stars).

I doubt this, but now, I am rooting for a showing for Outlander. lol.

Why now in its second season? This is the HFPA after all – first season or bust. I feel like its odds is a ‘Return to Zero’ situation all over again.

Empire has a better shot at “sweeping” the Golden Globes. And that will happen when hell freezes over. So….

Outlander isnt getting anything. It got shut out last year and will again, it has mediocre critical support, and the only thing putting it into the conversation is the Outlander fans ruining the predictions by predicting them just because they like the show.

What is Goldderby’s obssession with Outlander about? No it isn’t going to sweep. I’m not even sure it will be nominated in the major categories. Empire is much more likely to sweep the Drama categories.

What? No! Of course Outlander isn’t sweeping.

Oh, God. I know we’ve got to get hits for the site, guys, but come on.
