Yesterday I binge-watched every episode of The Grinder starring Rob Lowe and Ben Savage and I love it. The characters grow on me and Rob Lowe is a laugh riot as Dean Sanderson AKA The Grinder. So could he finally the Golden Globe next year after being nominated for a few movies The West Wing and Behind The Candleabra??November 10, 2015 at 1:39 am #364761
i think he’s on a path to at least being a nominee on GG, SAG and Emmys. Winner… don’t know yet.November 10, 2015 at 4:20 am #364762
It depends on who’s around and who hasn’t won yet. I think the only person that might be nominated and hasn’t won is Will Forte. Perhaps William H Macy but I don’t see it happening.
Either way there’s really no buzz and no interest in this show, I doubt the Globes give him a win for something nobody cares about (a renewal for a tuesday comedy on FOX doesn’t mean people are watching or caring) . Transparent premieres a few days before the nominations, it makes no sense for it to qualify but of course it will, it’s the Globes. They would much rather keep the buzz going for a show that is buzzed giving Tambor another win, than to give it to Rob Lowe.November 10, 2015 at 6:59 am #364763
If Grindr had a little more viewers he would win quite easily but the way it is he’ll be lucky just to get nominated.November 10, 2015 at 7:06 am #364764
I’m glad there’s someone else who’s watching and loving The Grinder. Rob Lowe is perfectly written for at all times, and he’s the reason the show is as enjoyable as it is. At the Golden Globes, he’ll definitely be nominated, but a win is really unlikely. I doubt the show will get any other attention, and the Globes only reward shows they like, not necessarily the best performances.

Lowe is great, but I’ve liked him on nearly everything I’ve seen. In fact, I might even prefer Savage on this show. But “The Grinder” has no buzz. Critics liked the pilot episode, but I haven’t seen anyone championing it since. It’s good, but it’s not a breakout hit nor a critic’s favorite. That said, he can definitely get in because of the weak competition and because of his name, especially at the GGs.November 11, 2015 at 7:11 pm #364766
I think lead actor at the globes is going to be really interesting this year. Although globes nearly always go with someone new here Tambor’s performance here possibly has the cache to repeat. However I’d still bank on someone more fresh and I could see them going with Lowe, Forte or Ansari here. My money is on Aziz.May 12, 2016 at 9:45 pm #1201832744
There isn’t an official forum for the show so Im gonna post this here:
F*cking sucks that the show got cancelled. It really found itself in its latter half. Lowe and Savage had great chemistry and both of them are worthy contenders of a Lead Actor nom IMO. I really hope that this show builds a legacy as one of the great one season shows, up there with Freaks and Geeks, My So Called Life, Undeclared and Firefly.
Im still hoping that Lowe can sneak into Best Actor. Even though if he does it won’t be based on the greatness of his performances (which he is), but it will probably just be a namecheck. Lots of one season wonders have gotten actors in (Claire Danes in My So Called Life, Geena Davis in Commander in Chief, Cicely Tyson in Sweet Justice, Leslie Nelson in Police Squad, etc)
I would also love Timothy Olyphant to get into Guest Actor
Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.
