Will Tatiana pull of a huge jaw dropper at the Emmys this year. Getting nominated was the hardest part for her now that she is could it be time for Maslany to win? Or will they give it to Viola Davis?

If she did win, I would have a heart attack. It’s been a crazy three years for Maslany and her standing with the Emmy’s. In her first year eligible, a LOT people (myself included) wanted her in. Needless to say, we at Goldderby were more than disappointed were she was snubbed. Last year, damn near everyone wanted her in. Not only that, but many people we’re predicting her to get in. We all were excited for her because it finally seemed that the stars were aligned for her. And then it happened.

She got SNUBBED! We were all pissed off. People on Twiiter were hella pissed off. The outrageous snub even made TV critics feel some type of way. Not to mention that she some REALLY competitive tapes.

Then, this year, many people honestly did not see Tatiana being nominated. We just gave up and accepted that she wasn’t ever gonna be nominated for one of the greatest TV performances in the medium. Needless to say, almost nobody predicted her to be nominated this year. Come the 16th, though, we were in for a huge surprise.

On the list of Drama Actress at the nomination ceremony, we were flabbergasted to see Maslany’s face and name of the screen. It felt very gratifying to see Tatiana FINALLY recognized for her work on Orphan Black. Yes, The Academy was a little late to the party. However, for it to even happen at all is just amazing.

Now, there is no secret that Maslany definitely has some tapes to win with. There are two questions, though: Can the Academy look past the sci-fi genre to give her the Emmy? and can a non-viewer of Orphan Black not be confused by the episode and follow it without any problems?

In terms of episodes, she can certainly win this. Her likely episode submission, “Certain Agony of the Battleground” has Maslany showing a vast range of emotions. We all of the episode submissions are sent in, she could very well have the best episode showcase in the category.

I think this is definitely a race between Viola Davis and Tatiana Maslany. Maslany has said that her episode is “Certain Agony of the Battlefield”, which will easily have the biggest range of any episode submitted in this category. It also has some serious impact, but my biggest fear is that voters will not know what is going on in the episode since barely anyone in the TV Academy watches the show, which will make the episode lose some of its impact. To me, Maslany outclasses everyone in this category with “Agony” no matter what they submit, but we will see…

No, I think Danes has it won this year. Homeland getting back into series is a massive bonus. Viola Davis is ahead of Maslany I think, Moss too.

As much as I love Elisabeth Moss, she is DEFINITELY not ahead of Maslany in terms of episodes. Yes, the former has a competitive tape in “Time & Life”. Yes, Moss does have the farewell factor in her favor. However, that episode is not better than Maslany’s likely episode submission. The only ones who can truly rival Maslany in terms of episodes are Danes, Davis and Wright. Davis has the buzz factor. Danes can very well win again. She has some competitive tapes and Homeland’s well-deserved resurgence does really help her. Wright also has a competitive episode. All she really has to done is actually submit the right episode this time, unlike the Great Robin Wright Episode Debacle of 2014.

You’re right that Maslany is ahead of Moss in terms of episode submission, however it all depends on whether the voters will want to make up for never giving the Mad Men actors an Emmy. Although they showed no sentiment towards Steve Carell.

The jaw-dropper was getting nominated. We always knew that if she got in and got to use the tape system, she would not be in the bottom 3 of the nominees. So a win may not be what I expect most, but it’s not gonna surprise me as much as seeing her in the nominees. Once she’s on their radar, they’ll know she’s good.

Waiting to see episode submission. I still believe that either Davis or Henson will pull this off but regardless of whom I put in first I will not put Maslany lower than second because I do believe if anyone is going to pull off an upset it is her.

Now that she’s nominated she’s in a position to compete for the win. She’ll be a darkhorse, but her victory certainly won’t be a jaw-dropper. However, if her submission ends up being “Certain Agony of the Battlefield” (episode 6) a win becomes less likely. It’s an emotional episode. But it’s also very erratic, action driven and borderline surreal/weird. Plus, most the emotional payoffs are for people who’ve watched the show from the beginning. A first time viewer will simply be left confused/indifferent. “”Ruthless in Purpose, and Insidious of Mind” (episode 8), “Community of Dreadful Fear and Hate” (episode 7), and “History Yet to Be Written” (episode 10) would all be smarter choices. None of her options are dynamic. But I think submitting one of those at least puts her in the competition.

I wish you have more choices than just a simple “yes or no”. She is possible because of the amount of support that she has from the internet alone. Lots of celebs sang her prasies for her nomination so it could very well happen.

With the new voting rules I don’t think she stands a chance. Winners will all be very mainstream. Viola Davis seems like a lock to me.

What in the world does internet support have anything to do with the TV Academy?  I know people on twitter and social media love to think their opininons and thoughts matter, but in the grand reality of things they do not and never will.  For the most part, things such as twitter and instagram and whatever are gone as quickly as they were posted.  So I doubt the fact she has a ton of fans online has anything to do with what the Academy members are going to do when they vote.  The only people that matter in this situation are those who are voting, not those who are sreaming the loudest online.

I would be shocked if she wins, mostly because the tape sytem does her no favors at this point in the show.  She gives a hell of a performance no doubt, but that performance could be hella confusing for anyone who is not familiar with the show.  And I am going to take a guess that may be the majority of the academy, especially the older members.

“Certain Agony of the Battlefield” is a stunning episode.  I think it is one of the best episodes they have ever done.  But most of the impact of the episode will be lost on those who are not fans of the show.  You really had to watch the series as whole to truly appreciate and understand what happened that episode.  Not to mention the episode is structured differently, so that does her no favors either.

    They’ve ended the tape system.
