Did the egregious snubs of The Good Wife’s near-perfect fifth season create enough buzz for it to be taken seriously in the Emmy races for drama series, directing, and writing this year?
Season six is quite polarizing; some feel it’s on par with season five, while others think it’s an enormous step down. Critics, with the exception of a few bad apples, have praised it universally. And there’s still a third of the season yet to unfold.
Besides its annual casting nomination, Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, maybe some other supporting actors/actresses, and a few guest stars, will The Good Wife finally be welcomed back into the big categories?
It was Golden Globe nominated, won the WGA, and had was awarded the Golden Tomato from Rotten Tomatoes for best reviewed drama series of the year (yes, this was for season six).March 21, 2015 at 6:04 pm #344320
I think it will probably be nominated for casting, so yes.March 21, 2015 at 6:07 pm #344321
I’m hoping yes, but my better judgement tells me no. Not with Orange coming over. If it does get nominated in writing for Oppo Research or Mind’s Eye, it could take the win.
As of right now, 3/21/2015, up until 6×15, Open Source, here’s what I think::
Opportunities thus far in writing: Oppo Research, Mind’s Eye, The Trial
Opportunities thus far in directing: Mind’s Eye, The Line, Hail Mary
I have a feeling the number of acting nominations could be overwhelming….
Extremely Likely Bets::
Lead Actress: Julianna Margulies
Supporting Actress: Christine Baranski
Guest Actor: David Hyde Pierce
Guest Actor: Michael J. Fox
Guest Actor: Dylan Baker
Guest Actress: Carrie Preston
Supporting Actor: Alan Cumming
Guest Actor: Ed Asner
Supporting Actress: Archie Panjabi
Supporting Actor: Matt Czuchry
Guest Actress: Linda Lavin
Guest Actor: Oliver PlattMarch 21, 2015 at 6:30 pm #344322
The casting nominees will be Better Call Saul, Bloodline, Game of Thrones, House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, so no.March 21, 2015 at 6:49 pm #344323
Better Call Saul is NOT getting a casting nomination.
I’d say Casting noms will be:
Game of Thrones
The Good Wife
House of Cards
Orange is the New Black
~ plus one of the following: Empire, Bloodline, How to Get Away with MurderMarch 21, 2015 at 7:15 pm #344324
Will Archie Panjabi be back?March 21, 2015 at 7:19 pm #344325
No to the thread question and no to the post above me.March 21, 2015 at 7:21 pm #344326
Why would Better Call Saul not be nominated? They love new shows and especially ones that are nominated for series. True Detective even won.March 21, 2015 at 7:33 pm #344327
They probably won’t nominate Better Call Saul since most of that cast were already cast by Breaking Bad’s casting directors. Did Fraiser get a casting nomination? Just curiousMarch 21, 2015 at 7:38 pm #344328
I think time will tell with Archie Panjabi. It depends on how well Kalinda’s exit is written and put into motion. If it’s something sensational like Will’s death, then maybe. She already has a winning episode to submit, and is a past winner. It all depends on the rest of the season.
Just remember, everyone thought Robin Wright was without a doubt winning at this point last year. Will had just died, and Julianna’s big two episodes (The Last Call and A Material World) hadn’t aired yet. A lot can change in seven episodes.March 21, 2015 at 7:57 pm #344329

The Casting award started in the 1999-2000 ceremony, when Fraiser was in its 7th season. It didnt get a nomination that year, but it got one the next year for it’s eight season and then recieved its final nomination in this category the next year for it’s ninth season

You give the Emmys too much credit.March 21, 2015 at 8:05 pm #344331
It will probably get a casting nomination because it has been nominated every year its been on.
And while it doesn’t have an episode as acclaimed and as talked about (yet) as “Hitting The Fan”, but Hail Mary could get a writing nom and a music composition nomination even though Hitting The Fan failed to get neither (It didn’t submit in writing though and I’m not sure if it was submitted in music composition). It could also be Czuchry (fingers crossed) and Panjabi’s nominations

I think Oops Choice is a strong episode to get in for writing. It’s a somewhat bottle episode for Margulies working out the logistics of her campaign and finding out her son got his girlfriend pregnant.March 22, 2015 at 2:50 am #344333

You mean ‘Oppo Research,’ right?
The Kings will likely submit one of the episodes that airs in 2015. So far they have The Debate (disappointing) and Mind’s Eye (divisive). Anyway, I don’t think the show is a writng contender regardless of what they will submit.
