Since the Emmys base the quality of a show based on a specific season of a show, I think that, their should be a list of the top 100 TV seasons voted on by critics.
Is it plausible it will ever happen?
I mean, is there any even sort of vaguely definitive critics’ list of the best shows ever?
Well, I think we can all simply agree that “Roseanne” Season 5 is at the top of the list and call it a day from there.
Just add Season 8 of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and call it a day.
Not all that plausible. There would need to be one for shows first.
Closest thing I’ve seen, is Alan Sepinwall mentioning his favorite seasons of all time in one of his “Ask Alan”.
This will never happen but critics have individually ranked seasons of the decade etc. Year-end lists added up and collated could allow you to form a judgement on what is the best show year by year (the best show of a given year would be under consideration for the best seasons of all time). I don’t know if that makes sense!
