In the history of the Emmy’s, only five African American women have been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. None went on to win. That could all change this year as there’s not one, not two, but three African American actresses to seriously consider. After taking home the SAG award, Viola Davis seems guaranteed to receive a nomination for “How to Get Away With Murder.” As the ratings for “Empire” go up, so do Taraji P. Henson’s chances of getting in too. Kerry Washington has already been nominated here two times for “Scandal,” losing both. A third nomination is certainly in the cards and she will have a strong submission with the episode, “Run.” If all three of these actresses got nominated, I’d be an Emmy landmark. If any of them won, it’d be a landmark on top of another landmark. Of course the Best Drama Actress race is highly competitive with no shortage of deserving potential nominees, both white and black. Although Davis is indeed a lock, there’s a good chance that Washington and Henson won’t even make the cut. While there are arguably other actresses that are more deserving to get in (Caitriona Balfe, anyone?), seeing this trio of actresses nominated would be extremely gratifying, especially considering the white dominance we recently saw at the Oscars. What do you think?

It’s possible, but I believe Washington will be left out.

Also, how weid would be to nominated Davis, Henson and Washington… then the winner being Wright or Wilson (as both have better tapes than those 3 ladies)? it would be awkward!

Nope. Olivia Pope has done left the building.
Davis is the lock. Taraji i am praying for.

Never watched her show but I do wish Washington is the one who breaks the rules. She is so sweet and indulgent whenever I see her and she should have been really good to make the cut two years in a row with a soapy ABC show, beating of all those premium cable actresses
If some Oscar-nominated actress come and be the first African-American to win Drama Actress… that seems a bit unfair to me

Yeah, if all THREE get nominated and a white woman wins, the amount of complaining on social media is going to be insane.

I doubt it. I do think Davis and Henson will make the cut though.

I think there’s a decent chance. I’m pretty sure that Davis and Henson will make the cut this year. I don’t watch ‘Scandal’, but Washington has been nominated twice in a row, so unless she had absolutely nothing to work with this year, and/or the show became dogshit, she could still get in. Wright is in, Wilson is a possibility, Schilling could happen (though I have my doubts), Danes is on a show that has been losing support each year… If there’s 6-7 nominees this year (there have been extended categories in the past), I can see all three getting in.

In a perfect world, yes.  But, in reality, no.

Kerry Washington is the most vulnerable not to receive another nomination.  Viola Davis is a lock.  Taraji P. Henson has a strong chance.

Honey, it will be another white woman winning as usual.

I think Davis, Henson, and Washington will all make the cut. The question I have is this though: Davis and Henson seem like the obvious frontrunners…..who will prevail?

Davis is probably locked and could win.
I’m not as sold on Henson’s chances as much as everyone else, but she’s in the top 8.
Washington seems to be falling out of contention though, through no fault of anyone but her competition.

I hope it happens. Taraji and Kerry (“Run” would give her the win) would both make my ballot. Unfortunately, Viola has the Shondaland vote locked up.

Unless there are seven nominees Washington will probably not make the cut, and even with seve slot she may not get in.

Too bad I hate all their shows. Though I fully support a nod for Hensen as of now.

The exquisite Viola Davis is my numero uno. But, all 3 ladies deserve the nod from their peers.

Kerry Washington has been nominated twice in a row now. She has tapes to work with. Kerry could possibly get in over Taraji. I wouldn’t count her out yet. I would like all 3 ladies to get in, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen. I feel Robin Wright has better tapes than all 3 of them, but she’s going to pick the wrong tape to submit again. I doubt she even submits Chapter 32 (her winning tape). Kerry Washington in “Run” is a winning tape. I’m hoping all 3 get in though.
