Winona Ryder & David Harbour To Star In Duffer Bros. Netflix Series

Winona Ryder and David Harbour are set as the adult leads in the Netflix untitled eight-episode supernatural period drama series written and directed by young genre filmmakers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines) and executive produced by Shawn Levy. Last Resort co-creator Karl Gajdusek has come on board as executive producer and showrunner of the series, previously known as Montauk.

Described as a love letter to the ’80s classics that captivated a generation, the series is set in 1980 Montauk, Long Island, where a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl. In her first major TV series gig, Ryder plays Joyce, the boy’s working-class single mother reeling from her son’s disappearance. In the quest to rescue her son from terrifying forces, she summons a strength she never knew she had. Harbour will play the town’s weary and disheveled chief of police tasked with investigating the disappearance.

In addition to writing and directing, the Duffer brothers will serve as executive producers alongside Gajdusek and 21 Laps’ Levy and Dan Cohen for Netflix.

Ryder, repped by Gersh, Anonymous and Hirsh Wallerstein, will next be seen in the HBO miniseries Show Me A Hero. Harbour, repped by ICM Partners, Authentic and Peikoff Mahan, is in post-production on Scott Cooper’s Black Mass and in pre-production on Sleepless Night.

Glad she’s being validated with a big project.

So happy for Ryder. She deserves more work than she gets

I’ve been hoping she’d get a comeback. Here’s hoping this is the first step
