I was wondering, would anyone actually be HAPPY if True Detective won?
I mean at all because last year when Breaking Bad won everyone was happy because it was a show that the voters had overlooked due to its content, genre, drugs, etc. and to see a group of people who never particularly liked it give Breaking Bad the top prize was just amazing.
The same goes for the Golden Globes, the HFPA would nominate the show but would never give it to them! And back in the award season, Breaking Bad was unbeatable! They won most guild awards!
So aside from all that, is True Detective a show that wins and gets the “Oh okay…” reaction?July 11, 2014 at 1:02 pm #322844
I’d be okay with any show winning. It’s just an award. Nothing too serious. As for happy, Game of Thrones.July 11, 2014 at 1:03 pm #322845
While I prefer Breaking Bad, True Detective was close in quality so I’d be glad with either.July 11, 2014 at 1:03 pm #322846
I’m a die hard breaking bad fan. And I find True detective a bit overrated. I think there are better shows in the catagory like Game of thrones, or House of cards, And of course Breaking bad that would make good winners. But detective winning would not be a good thing IMO.July 11, 2014 at 1:10 pm #322847
My rankings of the nominees.
1. Game of Thrones
2. Downton Abbey
3. House of Cards
4. Breaking Bad
5. Mad Men
6. True DetectiveJuly 11, 2014 at 1:32 pm #322848
At this point, I’ll be glad even if Downton Abbey win. It’s just too hopeless to hope too much in the emmys.
But of course, I’ll over the moon if Game of Thrones win.July 11, 2014 at 2:15 pm #322849
No it would be outrageous and absurd and there should be radical rule restructuring to prevent this stuff.July 11, 2014 at 2:17 pm #322850
I’d be OK. But Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones would be better.July 11, 2014 at 2:36 pm #322851
True Detective was the best for me. I loved Breaking Bad but it won last year and I consider THAT was the victory lap. Possibly listening to BB fans rave about the show ENDLESSLY and obsessively for over a year has started to annoy me! Not enough sex in it either. Walter and Jesse are so asexual, rather off-putting, unlike….Game of Thrones which is great fun but total trash! No one can possibly consider that great writing/great acting… can they? Mad Men has been awful and awfully boring for the past two seasons. House of Cards is overrated (I prefer the British original and find Kevin Spacey horribly hammy). What else? Downton Abbey with the exception of Maggie Smith is a soap opera with a bigger costume budget and hasn’t had an interesting storyline in two seasons either.July 11, 2014 at 4:32 pm #322852
I would be OK with it but I think Breaking Bad and GOT were much stronger. Same for House of CardsJuly 11, 2014 at 4:43 pm #322853
BB and TD are clearly the class of the category. Perfectly fine with me if either wins.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantJuly 11, 2014 at 4:57 pm #322854
Yeah, I wouldn’t mind it at all.BB and TD are really the best shows in the Drama Series category in terms of quality and buzz.July 11, 2014 at 6:02 pm #322855
Yes. It would make a fine winner.July 11, 2014 at 6:19 pm #322856
I could see it happening, but it’s not happening. It’s Breaking Bad’s to lose.
FYC: Ready Player One. Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Original Score, Production Design, Director and BEST PICTURE (make it happen Oscars!!)July 12, 2014 at 3:15 am #322857
WHile I’m one of the apparently few people who liked the finale, I think True Detective is somewhat overrated, so I’d rather see Breaking Bad win, or even Game of Thrones (even though this season was fairly close to True Detective in quality I would say).
I wouldn’t be upset, but I would be a little annoyed I guess. As long as House of Cards doesn’t win (which is not completley impossible), I’ll be fine.
