Would Samantha Bee’s “Full Frontal” be the first female talk show ever nominated at the Emmys? There have been very few talk shows hosted by women, of course. But would she legitimately be the FIRST? (Not counting variety sketch shows like Tracey Ullman.)

I am predicting her to be snubbed, largely because she is a woman.

Faye Emerson was nominated at the third Emmy ceremony for hosting The Faye Emerson Show. The talk show which immediately followed the evening news lasted only one seadon.

Wow OnTheAisle, that’s fascinating! Would “Full Frontal” be the first female-led talk show since “The Faye Emerson Show” to be nominated?

I think it depends on the definition of a talk show.

Oprah’s Master Class was nominated in 2013 for a Primetime Emmy as an Informational Series. That program is pretty much a talk show with one guest per episode.

Dinah’s Place (a half-hour NBC morning show) was nominated (and won once) in the early 1970s, but with an asterisk, as it was in a separate “daytime” category (the separate daytime ceremony did not start until 1974). I’m pretty sure that was a “talk show.” (This is not to be confused with the syndicated Dinah! show from a few years later, which definitely was a talk show, but did not get any nominations.)

If she doesn’t it’ll be an absolute embarrassment. She deserves to win.
