We never seem to be able to predict Writing and Directing on the site, so I decided to make a thread for it.

    Not in any particular order

    Writing:

The Americans – Do Mail Robots Dream of Eletric Sheep?
    Better Call Saul – Five-O
House of Cards – Chapter 36
    Game of Thrones – TBD
    True Detective – TBD
    Justified – “Finale” maybe?

True Detective isn’t premiering until after nominations have closed later this year, so it won’t be eligible until the 2016 Emmys.

    Louie
    Kimmy Schmidt
    (Fey episode)
    Episodes
    or The Comedians
    Transparent
    Veep

The one flaw with the writers branch is that they love the show within a show concept. Otherwise they are great, I would go to war with the writing winners over series in comedy any day.

Parks is 100% getting a writing (and maybe a directing nom) for the finale.

Mad Men is 100% getting a writing/directing nom for the finale.

Veep will get a writing/directing nom

Louie will get a writing/directing nom

Modern Family will get a directing nom for “Connection Lost” or “The Day We Almost Died”

Better Call Saul will probably get nominated for the pilot or “Five-O”

Bloodline will probably get nominated for the pilot or one of the last 4 episodes.

House of Cards will probably get nominated for “Chapter 32” – the best episode in a very weak season.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will probably get a writing nomination

The Comedians will probably get both writing and directing nominations

Silicon Valley will probably get a directing nomination.

Downton Abbey will probably get a writing or directing nom

Boardwalk Empire will probably get nominated for the finale

Continuum’s contenders will be 3 Minutes to Midnight in writing and Last Minute in directing as both are eligible.

Episodes had a pretty great season. I would be surprised if after all these years of (deserved) nominations that seemed so random because this show is very unknown and unwatched except within these branches of the Academy, the year with their best season they’re left off in both categories.

I know Girls is quickly falling off the Emmy radar, but the Girls season 4 finale deserves a directing nomination. Their best work since season 2.
