I love the writing categories at the Emmys – all hardcore TV fans do/should.

Which specific episodes in the Comedy/Drama race could be nominated this year, and interestingly, which episodes should voters be considering at this point?

To get the ball rolling, I’m going to suggest:

    Girls – One Man’s Trash

    You guys?

They have to do two because they have different writers.

No other comedy (other than Louie) comes close to the masterful writing of 30 Rock. Here would be my suggestions for episodes that should get nominated:

    30 ROCK:
“Stride of Pride” by Tina Fey
“My Whole Life Is Thunder” by Jack Burditt & Coleen McGuinness
“Last Lunch” by Tina Fey & Tracey Wigfield

And basically all of them, to be honest.

Mike White deserves recognition of his transcendant work on Enlightened.

    ENLIGHTENED:
    “Follow Me” by Mike White
“The Ghost is Seen” by Mike White
“All I Ever Wanted” by Mike White
“Agent of Change” by Mike White

    Louie
    “Daddy’s Girlfriend (Part 2) by Louis C.K.
    “Dad” by Louis C.K.
“Late Show” (all of them are great. Not sure if they count as one, though?) by Louis C.K.

I can’t really think of any other show that deserves to win Comedy Writing more than the above three shows. We’ll have to see about Arrested Development

Mad Men will surely have something deserving coming in the next few weeks. I just hope that the Breaking Bad team plays their cards right and keeps their submissions limited to a few solid choices.

YES! But he can only submit one episode since he wrote all of them. Every episode is lovely, perfect, beautiful. I don’t know how I would choose…

I still think that the three parts of “Late Show” will count as one episode, and even if it doesn’t, he’ll probably choose to go with “Late Show (Part 3)”.

I don’t watch the show, I didn’t know Enlightened didn’t have other writers. If the show can only submit one episode, I think White might have a better chance at a nomination in Writing than Dern in Actress. I could see a case where the show speaks strongly to a minor section of the Writing voters, and that they are passionate enough to get it nominated. I don’t mean to get people’s hopes up, as it will still be hard for it to happen, but I think it’s a possibility.

Which is the episode of girls where she does Coke? That was clever.

I think Last Lunch [/quote]“Last Lunch” is the better choice by virtue of being the final episode of the series.  It is worth noting that since they share a director and aired back-to-back, they can submit as one in the directing category, like when the last two episodes of Boston Legal shared a directing nomination, even though they had different writing credits.
