^ Wow, you seem to really like Review! Maybe I should start watching it…

Btw, I’m saving a spot until I can compile a full list. I was waiting for the last few eligible episodes to air, but I’ll post something soon with the intention of changing it if I need to.

Been waiting for this!  Unfortunately, I was not at home, so I did not
get to be the second post.  These are personal awards, so there
are only five nominees per category and there is only one sound
category for all of television, et cetera.  I decide category placement
before I decide if I want to “nominate” them.  Only episodes
that I have seen are eligible and all listed in the grades thread.  My nominees and winners from last year are here.

Ok. I’m going to have two different categories for the series nominees (one with the Emmy categories and one with my own). For every category thereafter, I will stick with my own classifications (OITNB and Shameless are back in the drama categories). I like Riley’s decision to only list 5 nominees, so I think I will do that as well. Also, I will bold definitive winners if all of the seasons have concluded. If I’m still thinking, nothing will be bolded.

    For the Emmys:

    OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES:
    Breaking Bad
    Game of Thrones
    Mad Men
    Masters of Sex
    True Detective
    Homeland

    OUTSTANDING COMEDY SERIES:
    Veep
    Looking
    Review
    Modern Family
    Girls
    Silicon Valley

NOTE: I have made the decision that OITNB and Shameless are not comedies, and therefore recognizing them as such would be a disservice to the traditional shows that deserve an Emmy slot. Category fraud has to hurt somewhere. I can buy True Detective as a drama, even though I wish all anthologies competed there.

The dream ballot section of the predictions center is back up and running, so if you want to adhere strictly to the Emmy ballot categorizations, you could just log your choices there.  (Check mine out!)

You really cannot forgive the Orange is the New Black category fraud, eh, Icky?  Since when did you watch Hello Ladies?  Does Broad City get better after the pilot?  I did not like that.

SxECanadianFanSxe, you have Pablo Schreiber in comedy, but everyone else from his show in drama.  Also, you classify him as supporting, but tons of other guest-billed regulars as guests.  I call foul, but I should leave you alone, since these are your awards.

I am personally using a fifty-percent rule, so anyone who appears in more is supporting and anyone who appears in less is guest, with the middle being determined by billing.

Good to see that we all agree on Zach Woods.  I never thought that I would have Andy Daly the lowest out of us.

Hmm… I have reclassified Schrieber as a guest, and he has taken the guest actor slot from Breaking Bad. Updated nomination totals are above.

I’m just going to use my discretion for these things. For example, I would probably classify Damian Lewis as supporting rather than lead or guest this year for Homeland. I’m fine with Uzo Aduba and Taryn Manning in guest actress.

Maybe I’ll institute a rule like that in the future, but I don’t really see the need at the moment. I’m also choosing to evaluate all of the shows and actors based on their entire seasons (if I can). There will be select instances in which I can only see a few episodes of someone’s work (like Allison Janney from Mom) but I will do my best to seek out her best episodes of the season. There are pros and cons to both methods, but I feel like a more holistic way of judging will come out with better winners than a single tape.

Honestly, the Andy Daly choice was quite easy for me. His quitting monologue at the coffee shop sealed the deal.

EDIT: Ooooh, I just noticed you have Jack Gleeson for guest actor. I am stealing that.

Alison Janney would be in my top three if she went lead where she belongs.

No, I can’t really forgive ‘Orange’s fraud. If it went drama I would have likely thrown it five main nods instead of two and it’d be would my second drama of the season, first if the season’s former half was just a drop better. I tried to convince myself it’s a comedy of some sort, but it’s just not. However, “Can’t Fix Crazy” was one of my favorite episodes of “TV” this year, so I wanted to give that some love.

Broad City gets gradually stronger as the season progresses. Mind you, Review is only show from this season of TV I was close to semi loving. So, I’d hardly press you to watch asap.

I don’t think I could post this yet since Game of Thrones’ season isn’t finished yet. We still have episode 8, 9, 10 to go.

Just out of curiosity, what is the reasoning behind placing Fargo in drama series? It was my understanding that it would only have the one season or is it going the True Detetctive hybrid route?

Check my dream ballot to see my picks, according to Emmy categorization. Like Gabriel, if I don’t list 6 nominees, it’s because don’t feel enough performances/shows from those that I watch deserve nominations (I won’t fill out a category for the sake of it). I was surprised at how few performances/shows I found worthy. The only category so far that I was able to fill out was Drama Supporting Actor.

It will be like True Detective.  Next season will have a new cast and location.
