Sometimes at the Emmy’s, when the winner for a category is announced, one of the losing nominees gives a fantastic reaction that lets the viewers know that losing nominee was truly  happy for the winner, even if it was an upset. What has been your favorite reaction from a losing nominee? (A POSITIVE reaction)

For instance, I liked Glenn Close and Mariska Hargitay’s reaction in 2010 when they  lost the Emmy  to Kyra Sedgwick. Close was across the aisle from Sedgwick, and she smiled and clapped and kind of screamed “woohooo” when Sedgwick’s name was announced. Hargitay (who was in the front) kind of did the same thing.

I also liked Teri Hatcher’s reaction to Felicity Huffman’s win for Desperate Housewives back in 2006. You could hear Hatcher scream in excitement for her co-star.

What are some of your favorites?

Eric Stonestreet’s reaction to Ty Burrell winning, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s reaction to Eric Stonestreet’s first win.

And Bea’s reaction was also great to Rue winning and in the end of her speech they pointed the camera to Estelle who looked like she was so happy for rue!

Bryan Cranston’s 1st emmy win in 2008 featured a great reaction shot from Jon Hamm, who seemed pretty pleasantly stunned to see his AMC brother accept the prize. Also, the little handshake between Cranston and Michael C. Hall was a nice touch, even if the rest of the Dexter crew seemed pretty sour over their co-star’s loss.

Generally, it’s pretty great to see the reaction of any person losing to a co-star. Bradley Whitford was ecstatic when he lost to John Spencer in 2002 (his having won the previous year couldn’t have hurt, but nonetheless, it was touching).

I think Esposito’s reaction to Aaron Paul winning was very nice.

Also…Amy Poehler? This year and last year – her reactions are always funny, yet respectable.

Also, Sofia Vergara’s “BRAVO” to Julie Bowen when she lost was really sweet.

On the other hand Mary-Louise Parker and Janel Moloney were visibly less than thrilled when their co-star Stockard Channing won. I like how Lauren Ambrose did “What can you do about it?” face.

This is hilarious. We need to revive this thread and add to it.

To add on to that same group, Jane Curtain was VERY excited for Rue, and even corrected Howie Mandel’s mispronounication of Rue’s last name.

Tyne Daly’s excitement to Sharon Gless’ first victory for “Cagney & Lacey”.

I liked the year Melissa McCarthy won when they were parodying Miss Universe. All the other five women seemed genuinely happy and gave her sincere hugs as she was being crowned.

^ I agree, but I have to say Laura Linney is a great ‘actress’ if you know what I mean. She was heavily tipped to win that year, and you can kind of see it in her reaction. That was such a WTF moment.

Sarah Paulson’s reaction to losing last year clearly showed her disappointment…

Jesse Tyler Ferguson seemed silently pissed when Stonestreet won his second Emmy in 2012. Watch it back. He doesn’t flinch, he has this plastered-on smile and his hug with Stonestreet is quite false, although later on he seems pleased for him…

Julie Bowen’s reaction to Merrit Wever winning is lovely.

Also Julie Bowen’s immediate reaction to Julia Louis-Dreyfus winning the SAG this year is pretty great.

Christine Baranski’s reaction to Archie Panjabi’s win was gold. She
looked happier from than that as if she’d won it herself. Also props to
Anna Chlumsky for being cheery on Merrit Weavers win last year. On none
emmy wins, its worth pointing out the odd reactions of Edie Falco and
JLD losing to Amy Poehler at the Golden Globes

I think everyone’s reaction to Wever’s win was just great – everyone seemed genuinely happy that the underdog and least affected person won.

Going to check out Poehler’s GG win now
