From all the raves I’ve heard about Nathan Lane, it seems like he’s the frontrunner in his category right now.January 29, 2017 at 3:51 am #1201997613
Featured Actor in a Play is going to be as stacked this year as Featured Actor in a Musical was last year. With Lane now in, plus all the guys from Jitney and more likely contenders to come in Oslo, plus the potential for some breakout parts in Sweat and The Play That Goes Wrong, that will be a crowded ballot.January 30, 2017 at 7:24 am #1201999064

The Tonys are going digital this year in terms of their nominations. This year, the nominators will be choosing their nominations digitally instead of through a paper ballot. Voting for the actual winners will still be done on paper ballots though. http://www.playbill.com/article/tony-award-nominations-will-go-digital-in-2017February 7, 2017 at 10:45 am #1202004877

I thought he was a fantastic host last year. I’d love to see him host again.February 9, 2017 at 7:46 pm #1202007020
I’ve been listening to the Dear Evan Hansen cast recording and remembering seeing the show back in DC. It’s hard for me to imagine anyone but Ben Platt winning Lead Actor and I have to imagine Rachel Bay Jones will be incredibly competitive for Featured Actress. In a perfect world I would engrave their Tonys right now.February 22, 2017 at 9:20 pm #1202019152
Just saw THE PRICE and Danny Devitto will probably win Feature Actor in a Play. He is hilariously fantastic. Ruffalo on other hand is not good at all.March 13, 2017 at 2:09 pm #1202036092

The reviews for Amelie were incredibly mixed ): Come From Away got raves almost across the board (: So i think CFA joins Evan and Natasha as definite nominees for Best Musical. I am really interested in what the reviews will be for War Paint (: We will know soon! (:April 4, 2017 at 12:07 pm #1202054909
I don’t think it will be to the level of Hamilton or The Producers, but I do believe it’ll be the top winner (Best Musical and most number of awards) and is the one to beat in a number of categories. I think it’s a shoo in for Best Musical and Actor at this point, and will probably win Score and Book and my personal hope is Rachel Bay Jones gets Featured Actress. Unlike Hamilton I don’t think it’s the grand slam open and closed case in all of these categories and I could theoretically make cases for other shows/actors, but I still think it will triumph.
