The reviews for Amelie were incredibly mixed ): Come From Away got raves almost across the board (: So i think CFA joins Evan and Natasha as definite nominees for Best Musical. I am really interested in what the reviews will be for War Paint (: We will know soon! (:
We already know that Brantley in the Times was not high on War Paint from his review of the Chicago run.April 6, 2017 at 2:14 pm #1202058359
The administration committee just met for the third time, and here’s the rulings they made…

The producers of the Tonys are apparently still looking for a host…

Dear Tony Producers: I will refer you to my article where Laura Benanti outpaced Stephen Colbert for votes. Now is the time 😉
Maybe pair her up with someone like Andrew Rannells? Both are extremely funny and would bounce off each other well.
Regardless, I do hope they involve Kroll and Mulaney somehow. If not hosts, then definitely sit them in the audience (as their Oh Hello characters) and have them mock people like Statler and Waldorff from the Muppets.April 14, 2017 at 9:00 am #1202066389
If Benanti doesn’t host, at least have her present an award dressed as Melania Trump.April 14, 2017 at 11:30 am #1202066554
If they were trying to get Tina Fey, as the Post states, how bout some of Tina Fey’s regular cast members? Netflix obviously thinks Tituss Burgess is enough of a draw to make him the centerpiece of their Kimmy Schmidt commercials. Maybe pair him with Jane Krakowski. Or have Jane with another sitcom star pal of hers, like Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Audra McDonald has closed out the Tonys twice, and just had a role in the wildly successful Beauty and the Beast. Pair her up with someone of completely opposite voice type for a funny sing off.
just spitballing and hope they find someone soon!April 16, 2017 at 6:43 pm #1202068186
It’s too bad Tina Fey turned down the role, because she would have been a wonderful host.April 18, 2017 at 7:31 am #1202069718
I know I’m not the only person who has said it but I would love to see Glenn Close/Jake Gyllenhaal pair up and host as the ineligibles. They would draw a crowd but I feel like they might be too tired (though Sunday closes next week right? But Jake’s probably got a movie to film right after). I would love Nick Kroll and John Mulaney to do it they seem like the perfect fit for this year’s show. It’s really odd that lately there has been such a struggle to find hosts for both the Oscars and Tonys. I guess in the age of twitter people don’t want to go through the ringer of amount of criticism and scrutiny the job entails.April 18, 2017 at 7:37 am #1202069722
Don’t know about who should host, but there’s a charming article in the NY Times about the relationship between Jenn Colella and real-life pilot Beverley Bass that has developed as Come From Away made its way to Broadway. They should definitely try to get the two of them to present an award together.April 18, 2017 at 7:47 am #1202069724
Or maybe Beverly could introduce the cast of Come From Away on the Tonys.April 18, 2017 at 10:06 am #1202069858
This year’s Tony host is…

Imagine all the Broadway icons he could do impressions of: Matthew Broderick, Carol Channing, Harvey Fierstein, Nathan Lane, Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters, Chita Rivera, Andrew Lloyd Webber, etc.
