Looks more and more like Newsies is going to be the show to beat in most of the non-revival musical categories at the Tonys this year. Some people were holding out hope that Bonnie & Clyde might make it competetive, but reviews were overwhelmingly negative. The most positive thing in the New York Times was the comment that it was “mildly tuneful”. Their reviewer went on to say that Laura Osnes, as Bonnie, brought to mind “a Bennington girl slumming with rough trade on her semester off”. He opined that if Bravo had had reality shows at the time, this one might have been titled Real White Trash of West Dallas.
That’s too bad about Bonnie and Clyde. I was keeping an eye on those developments.
Ouch, I guess some things shouldn’t be re-done.
That’s really a shame. I love its song “You Love Who You Love.”
