Please cast your dream musical revivals in this thread

    The Producers:

    Max Bialystock: Danny Burstein
    Leopold Bloom: Christian Borle
    Roger DeBris: Richard Kind
    Carmen Ghia: Cheyenne Jackson
    Franz Liebkind: Raoul Esparza
    Ulla: Megan Hilty

Honestly, I cannot think of The Producers without the original cast. However, I do believe it should be revived some time in the near future because it is an amazing musical

I can’t help it, I wanna see Idina Menzel do Funny Girl. With Linda Lavin as the mother and maybe Craig Bierko as Arnstein.

    The Rocky Horror Show

    Directed by: Diana Paulus

Paulus directs the revival of Richard O’Brien’s hilarious musical and puts a new spin on it. Brad Majors and Janet Weiss (Tony winners Sutton Foster and Christian Borle) are lost in the rain in the middle of New York City. They notice a theatre has its lights on, so they decide to seek shelter there until the rain stops. They are greeted by the flamboyant Riff-Raff (Tony nominee Andrew Rannells) who claims to be the janitor at this specific theatre. They enter to find a large group of odd characters preparing for a premiere – the first time in years that this theatre has shown anything. They watch as the flamboyant transvestite Dr. Frank N Furter (Tony winner Hugh Jackman) shows off his newest “creation” – Rocky Horror, an adonis.

    Starring:
Hugh Jackman as Dr. Frank N Furter
    Sutton Foster as Janet Weiss
    Christian Borle as Brad Majors
    Andrew Rannells as Riff Raff
    Patina Miller as Magenta
    Lena Dunham as Columbia
Mandy Patinkin as Dr. Everett V. Scott
    Cheyenne Jackson as Rocky Horror
    Joel Grey as The Criminologist
    Norbert Leo Butz as Eddie

    Tony Nominations and Wins:
    Best Revival of a Musical
Best Actor in a Musical [Hugh Jackman]
Best Actor in a Musical [Christian Borle]
Best Actress in a Musical [Sutton Foster]
Best Featured Actor in a Musical [Andrew Rannells]
Best Featured Actor in a Musical [Mandy Patinkin]
Best Featured Actress in a Musical [Patina Miller]
Best Direction of a Musical [Diane Paulus]

    @Macbeth

Wow, I would never have thought of Hugh Jackman as Frank N Furter but I really want to see that now!  And that cast is amazing (although Im not sure Andrew Rannells, though talented, has that crazy scream belt for Riff Raff).

    Guys and Dolls

    Directed by Tim Burton

    Nathan Detroit : Johnny Depp

Miss Adelaide : Helena Bonham Carter

    Sarah Brown : Anne Hathaway

    Sky Masterson : Bobby Cannavale

Just wondering what Colleen Atwood’s costumes alone would look like makes it fun to think of…

    Gypsy

    Meryl Streep as Rose

    Tatiana Maslany as Louise

    Norbert Leo Butz as Herbie

    Directed by Rob Marshall

Maslany has the transformation routine down. She would bring timid to va-voom in seconds. And Streep as the heart-broken but I’m still here in “Rose’s Turn” will bring down the house

    Auntie Mame (Mame)

Bette Midler as Auntie Mame Dennis
    John Lithgow as Vera Charles
    Kelli O’Hara as Agnes Gooch
    Joel Grey as Mr. Babcock
    Val Kilmer as Beauregard

    Directed by Bartlett Sher

However, I’d enjoy a Julie Taymor production. The craft and art of her sets and costumes would be awesome…but they would over shadow the star…unless Auntie Mame was played by Nathan Lane…scratch

    Nate Lane as Auntie Mame
    John Lithgow as Vera Charles
Neil Patrick Harris as Agnes Gooch
    Kelli O’Hara as Mr. Babcock
    Dot Marie Jones as Beauregard

    The Music Man

David Alan Grier as Harold Hill
Anika Noni Rose as Marian Paroo
    Roz Ryan as Mrs Paroo
Leo Norbert Butz as Marcellus Washburn

    Directed by Paris Barclay

David Alan Grier needs to be a lead in a fun musical. This could be it. 🙂
