In early January, the current revival of Falsettos playing at the Walter Kerr will be filmed for airing on PBS’s Live from Lincoln Center at a later date (not yet announced). This show was the highlight of my November New York trip, and I’m so glad that it will be captured (particularly Stephanie J. Block’s glorious, award-worthy performance) for a wider audience.
I saw this tonight in a sold-out theater. It was beautifully recorded with crystal-clear sound and a perfect mix of close-ups and wide shots to let you see the overall staging. The performances worked very well in close up. It’s truly a remarkable cast. It just reinforced my conviction that, much as I loved Rachel Bay Jones, I would have voted for Stephanie J. Block for the Tony.
I wonder how many Tony voters who saw the screening last month hadn’t already made their votes before the deadline.
The filmed performance will be available for streaming on BroadwayHD starting next month…
Falsettos will be airing on PBS sometime this October…
If you can’t wait until October, Falsettos can now be streamed on BroadwayHD. http://www.playbill.com/article/falsettos-now-available-for-streaming-on-broadwayhd
I’m guessing there’s a good chance the cast and the show will be submitted for Emmy consideration next year. But considering that Falsettos also screened in movie theaters this summer, it’ll be interesting to see if it gets submitted for Best Picture at the Oscars, provided of course Los Angeles was one of the cities it screened in.
Does anyone know if it actually screened in Los Angeles?
