It was just revealed that the hotly anticipated stage adaptation of Disney’s Frozen will play an out-of-town tryout in summer 2017, followed by a Broadway bow in Spring 2018!
Jennifer Lee (co-director and screenwriter of the film) will write the book with Robert & Kristen Anderson-Lopez writing new songs for the show.
The creative team will include director Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Peter & the Starcatcher, Rocky), choreographer Peter Darling (Billy Elliot, Matilda), sound designer Peter Hylenski (Rock of Ages, Motown, Something Rotten!), lighting designer Natasha Katz (Beauty & the Beast, Aida, Once, Aladdin, An American in Paris), and Set & Costume Designer Bob Crowley (Carousel, Aida, Mary Poppins, Once, Aladdin, An American in Paris).
Love this! I’m guessing Menzel for older Elsa?
Why can’t people just Let it Freaking Go?
FYC: Ready Player One. Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Original Score, Production Design, Director and BEST PICTURE (make it happen Oscars!!)
It was just revealed that Frozen will be having its out-of-town tryout in Denver, Colorado!
Love Frozen and all. But I wonder what happen to their Hunchback musical, I’ve been listening to music from it and it’s dope as fuck.
^^Hunchback was licensed for regional theater following its Papermill run.
Alex Timbers is a very interesting choice for director. His most inspired work has been the more avant-garde, almost experimental stuff. Unless they change Frozen drastically, it’s not going to fit into that mold. It’ll be a huge hit regardless and I would like to hear an expanded score, since some of the characters weren’t fully musicalized in the film.
