I know Streetcar has its own operatic adaptation, but I would love to see someone write a Broadway musical adaptation, where the dialogue is intact, but there are musical numbers added. It suits opera better probably due to the dramatic nature of the piece and the fact that there are virtually no light moments in the play… A problem for a Broadway musical. Anywho, who could you see cast if the play was a Broadway musical?

I’d kill to see Victoria Clark play Blanche, with maybe Will Swenson as Stanley…

For a second, I actually thought they made it a musical.

I think I read a post once that said ‘Top Ten Hardest Characters To Recast’ and number one was Stanley from Streetcar. I think that might be the main problem here.

So I thought about it and this is all I got so far:

    Christina Milloti as Stella

I have some reasoning for this. The character has to be easily pushed around by Stanley but as we all know she gets smart at the end of the work. That is going to take a really really good actress. BUT the actress has to look the part too and I feel like she checks off all the boxes. 1)Great actress 2)she can sing and 3)She just looks like what I would imagine Stella to look like when I read the play.

Now lets get to Blanche: Sutton Foster.

She has the voice and she is a great actress. I was tempted to say Indina Menzel but I’m not too sure

I have to disagree with you, Definitely not Sutton Foster. She does have a fantastic voice and strong acting ability, but she isn’t the most versatile actress in my opinion. She plays really similiar variations of herself with each role. I think Audra or Kelli O’hara would make better choices.

I didn’t even think of Audra. That’s a good one.

Are you kidding me? This is my favorite film of all times!

Okay, The cast is going to be THE HARDEST thing to put together.

Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence or whoever to play Stella or Blanche.
Any guy to play Stanley. (Add on Mitch because it won Karl Marden his Oscar).

And trust me, nobody would be playing any character perfect, especially Stanley and Stella (Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh).

    But this is my dreamcast:

Stella: Christina Miloti (Young, but it’s fine)
Stanley: Ben Feldman (sorry, my A to Z waiting is killing me)
Blanche: Who else then Cate Blanchett
Mitch: Bradley Cooper (or anyone for that matter)
