So the Tony Awards have never been a ratings blockbuster (they’ve been more hit or miss).
2010 – 7.0 million
2011 – 6.9 million
2012 – 6.01 million
2013 – 7.2 million
2014 – 7.05 million
2015 – 6.35 million
But I’m curious to see how the ratings will be this year. I think there’s some potential thanks to a pretty mainstream list of nominees (Hamilton, Steve Martin & Edie Brickell, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sara Bareilles, Jessica Lange, Lupita Nyong’o, Michelle Williams, Zachary Levi, Jane Krakowski, Jeff Daniels, etc.)
I think it’ll do the best in that line up. With Hamilton and James Corden I think they can achieve getting an audience larger than 7.2 million
This year’s Tony Awards was the highest rated telecast since 2001 (when The Producers dominated)!
