Will star in new musical about the life of Houdini, collaborating with Aaron Sorkin, Stephen Schwartz and Jack O’Brien:
Interesting. I remember an interview with Schwartz where he said Wicked had made him rich enough he never had to write for Broadway again. He also wrote a similarly-themed show way back in the day, The Magic Show.
It’ll be fun to see if Sorkin can handle the task of writing a musical book, which is incredibly different from a play or screenplay.
You have to look up Kathy Griffin’s bit in her last special, “Tired Hooker,” about going to see Jackman onstage in his cabaret act. She pays rightful homage to his song-and-dance abilities but her puzzlement over the juxtaposition between his flamboyant kitchiness and the badass Wolverine persona is hi-larious.
