That Best Actor category is just outstanding!!  Kinnear, Hiddleston, Law, and Goodman.  All giants of the London theater!!!  I heard that Hiddleston was a Coriolanus for the ages.

Shout out to my ridiculously talented friends in the Mark Morris Dance Company. So proud of them. =)

I expected Cripple of Inishmaan to fare a little better with the Brits. Sarah Greene got a nomination for supporting (she and Ingrid Craigie have great roles and I expect will be competitive for Tony noms).  Cant believe Radcliffe is shut out again. Though the Olivier’s make things more competitive with only 4 nominations in the acting categories.

I think Best Actor is wide open.  Hiddleston got absolute raves as Coriolanus.  But Law did as well.  And Kinnear and Goodman are real heavyweights in London Theater.  It’s hard to say.  Unlike most American awards shows, there really are a lot of really good choices.

Judi Dench vs. Lesley Manville – I believe Ms. Manville will win for Ghosts. Rosalie Craig will win for the Tori Amos musical The Light Princess. Chimerica is a really interesting play (and it will likely win) which will hopefully come to NYC. Sarah Greene is the likely featured actress in a play winner, and I think she will be nominated for a Tony for her recreation of her performance in the broadway production. Douglas Hodge is the likely winner for Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. The Scottsboro Boys did really well – 6 nominations, 2 for Susan Stroman as both director and choreographer, but I don’t think it will win any prizes. Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along did well too with 7 nominations, including one for direction for actress Maria Friedman. I hope the awards ceremony gets streamed on the internet! (:
