Legendary stage director Gene Saks passed away yesterday at age 93. He is famous for directing most of Neil Simon’s plays like Brighton Beach Memoirs, Biloxi Blues, Jake’s Women, Rumors, Lost in Yonkers, Broadway Bound, The Odd Couple, and California Suite. He also has acted on stage before and directed films. He won 3 Tonys for Memoirs, Blues, and a non Simon play but a musical I Love My Wife. He has been nominated for 7 Tonys, 4 Drama Desk Awards, and one DGA Award for the movie version of The Odd Couple. He was married to Bea Arthur for 30 years (50-80) and Keren Saks (80-15) and is survived by 3 kids. His impact to the theater world will truly be missed
